Stop Dragon My Heart Around

dragonsloyaltyaward

I’m not the biggest fan of blogger awards, because frankly they remind me of two of the worst things people spread to each other…. chain letters and those diseases that require penicillin.  I generally thank the recipient, since I am grateful to be recognized, and sometimes I will even give that award a mention in a post.  But I usually decline going through the whole rigamarole that accompanies these virtual badges….

Then yesterday, my partner in laughter and childhood memories Merbear received The Dragon’s Loyalty Award, and chose only her longest and loyalest followers to pass it on to.  As intrigued as I was at the artwork of this award, I also couldn’t pass up the sentiment.  And thus, I will make an official acceptance post for this award!

vote for buster!

On behalf of The Nest, we are honored to receive this award! Now let’s all take off our pants!

Thank you Merby for thinking of me as one of your loyalest friends!  And now, here are 7 more random facts about me from off the top of my head….

1. My favorite number is 13.  I mentioned this is a post a year ago, but I doubt most of you saw it, so there!  You learned something about me!

2. I eat chicken 6 days a week.  Sometimes 7.

kfc birthday

No thanks. You need it more than I do

3. Despite my affection for fried foods, my cholesterol is in the good range.

4. I have never seen the ocean before, but I’ve been to two Great Lakes.

sandy

The ocean scares me…

5. The candidate I’ve rooted for (as if I really care anyway) in every Presidential election since I first became aware of elections in 1984 has lost.  That’s 0-8 for those keeping score at home.

6. I will not venture outside if I even think there might be lightning.  It’s my one true phobia.

Wuss!

Wuss!

7. When I was in college, a homeless man once offered to sell me some tampons while I was walking to campus.

I decided to follow Merby’s lead for an award like this, and only serve it up to my longest and most loyal followers.  Sadly, so many of the bloggers I’ve considered my “original gang” have either hung up their blog, or haven’t been around much lately.  Still, I’d like to bestow the Dragon’s Loyalty Award on the following bloggers:

My Aussie Aunt Sharon at Gentlestitches, who literally has been my longest and most loyal supporter!

Dog For David

The Vampire Maman

Leila at Pissed Off in Paradise, who needs a new ‘puter more than a shiny new award.

My best frenemy Sparky Spitfire

Spineless Wonders, whose author is about to get hitched!

Fransi’s Three Hundred Sixty Five Blog, always a great source of inspiration!

Pish’s Blog of Lovliness

Squirrel Picnic, home of the cutest little creations I have ever seen!

We’ll make it an even ten with Becca’s Lady or Not Blog, always good for a laugh!

And in the hopes that’s he’s still out there and doing OK, even though he hasn’t updated his blog in almost four weeks…. one of my favorite people of the original gang, The Pensive Squirrel.

Bravo, bravo and well deserved congratulations, Evilsquirrel! 😀 I just loved your opening paragraph, esp the part about disease! 😉

Thank you kindly for the nomination. I’ve sucked at blogging recently, I really have. That’s me only just posted a new Cyril and Willy today and it’s not up to scratch. Think I need to start experimenting with my format. 🙂 And I am now officially hitched. 🙂 If you want to see the Spineless Wonders’ involvement in the big day, you should check out my other blog http://www.teaandtantalisingtales.wordpress.com there have been random postings involving them, I think you’ll like tomorrow’s. 🙂

I also owe you those pictures of the squirrels that I spotted in my back yard. Will need to write up a post soon! 🙂 Thanks for the inspiration and continued support. Hope you get a chance to see the ocean one day.

  2. Aw, thank you ES 😀 Mwuah!
(Still no shiny ‘puter though ::sniff::)

This is hands down the greatest award acceptance I have ever had the privilege of reading. I feel the same about awards and venereal disease, but sometimes you gotta take your chances.

🙂 Thank you! I love this award. I accept with delight. It is interesting you haven’t
seen the Ocean. If you ever get to Aussie Land, The Boy and I will show it to you. Australia is an Island as you are no doubt aware.
Have a google at Phillip Island Victoria, The Great Ocean Road,
Kangaroo Island South Australia and the all time favorite, only 4 inches of water deep, safe for kids (drum roll) BARWON HEADS) yay!!

oh! i are so lucky! or so i fink…is this some kind of a trap? is that dragon house-trained? Well, we’ll take this little awardie, let the boys in teh lab run a few tests on it to make sure it’s not a bomb or anyfing, and if not, we will be eternally grateful. now i can’t guarantee that my typist, Mrs. Whatsername, can be trusted to remember to repost this awardie or any such niceties as that because, sadly, she sucks. She’s just an awful, awful Personal Assistant who i retain because she really excels at opening doors and cans of cat food. but i am searching for a replacement. Fank you from teh bottom of my furry little heart.

  6. Thank you so much Evil Squirrel’s Nest! I am so honored that you thought of me. Hodge and Podge are excited too. They’re writing their acceptance speech right now.

PS: I share your fear of lightning. I get chills just thinking about it.
