    Chia pets kick ass.

  2. I would pick the gift card, all my chia pets were goners :o)

  3. draliman says:

November? Ha! We had our first “Christmas jumper day” here at works ages ago 😦 I refused to partake on the grounds that it was still “British Summer Time” and Halloween was still weeks away.

  4. goldfish says:

I totally want a Chia Donkicorn.

  5. It IS a most curious custom. I got a note from TCM today letting us know that their Christmas Movie Collections are now available. Eventually, Christmas will extend to all 12 months. Like by next year, maybe. Then we will never have to take down the decorations.

  6. gentlestitches says:

HaHaHa!! Too funny!! Also the Santa Claws scene is HILARIOUS! and the expressions…..expressive. 😀

  7. There was an article in the paper a while back about someone checking the stats from internet search engines and people were using Christmas-related terms as early as August, which is the earliest yet. So it’ll be May next year, and probably December the following year.

    • In July of 1999, we had Christmas lights on a feature at Mecca. I kid you not.

That was an isolated incident, but still one of my favorite personal stories about holiday in retail…

      • Technically, they’re just coloured lights. They’re only Christmas lights if used at Christmas time. Unless of course they depict a nativity scene or Santa and reindeer.

      • That is true… especially now that we have stringed lights for every occasion. But that concept didn’t really exist at the time, and the boxes clearly showed the lights being displayed in the winter time! The lights in question were the “icicle” type lights that became insanely and unexpectedly popular the Christmas before. Mecca wanted to get a head start on selling them for the next season… but putting them out in the middle of Summer was still pretty ridiculous!

      • Just a little. People will only buy Christmas lines in the summer if they’re reduced. Or appear to be reduced, anyway.
