“What tubes?” as the late, great George Carlin once said.
This week’s Saturday Squirrel is obviously expecting something quite exciting to come out of this tube. It’s actually the drain extension for one of my downspouts… but he doesn’t know that. As far as he’s concerned, this is a fantastic tunnel from which something totally awesome is about to emerge!
What can it be?
That’s your cue, readers! Tell me in the comments what you think this squirrel is anxiously awaiting the arrival of. Be creative, be funny… be original!
And have a great, and hopefully warm weekend everyone!
If it’s a she squirrel, the big payoff would be … nuts to stow away for winter!
A he squirrel, on the other hand, is hoping for a flat screen TV attached to cable so he can surf for his buddy Reege.
Great shot, Bill.
I can just picture a squirrel with a 51 inch big screen up in his nest… probably hooked up by extension cord to one of my outside outlets… and stealing my cable, because that’s what squirrels would do! Da Reege would be echoing throughout the neighborhood… at least until after dark when the real entertainment would be on…
Squirrels would do exactly that, ESN. I can see the little thieves sticking their little tongues out at us.
I am chuckling at the comment Mark made and I cannot improve on his originality! Great photo which surely will get quite a ’round’ of funny thoughts here! Smiles, Robin
Thanks! He may be waiting for his Squirrel Appreciation Day gifts!
“Please, let it be shoes… please let it be shoes… please let it be shoes!”
LOL! A squirrel with a shoe fetish! I wonder how well they could climb trees in heels?
Oh nuts! He’s hoping for that automatic nut finder he ordered from Acme.
So that’s how squirrels get their mail! I was wondering why there weren’t little mailboxes on their trees…
Now you know! Those little mail tubes do a great job!
This must be a tube station….and he’s never seen a real subway…..
He might want to get out of the way then before he gets run over like a possum!
A cookie tube, of course.
Now I wish I had a cookie tube.. one that only dispensed chocolate chip!
Nuts. He is expecting nuts. Lots of nuts. He’s a bit nutty that way.
Given the number of acorns that fall in my gutters (in years where the tree actually produces them) that isn’t too farfetched a notion! It could very well dispense a lot of nuts!
I have to agree with Grandmalin. It’s waiting for a subway that’s never gonna arrive.
Unless it’s a discarded Subway sandwich, but then I would have to figure out how that even got in the gutters to begin with.
Around here, you would never know. I’m the yard that’s in everyone’s neighborhood that the kids like to use as a shortcut. Sometimes I have more trash in my yard than you’ll find on the side of a highway…
You were my best hope for piranha plant… that would be unexpectedly expected!
It looks like that squirrel’s waiting to find out if it’s going to be a contestant on the next series of Who Wants to be a Millionaire?! 😉
I hope he remembers to go Bendy Side Out…
If he even gets to the Hot Seat at all!
He is waiting for the money that he requested from the bank drive through (squirrel got lost)? Thank you for the Carlin link…I might add Hell in a handbasket…could you imagine the delivery to that place VIA method? I wish he were here.
Ps…devil is in the details. I sense a theme with my responses so I’m going to stop.
But how cute would it be to actually be delivered to hell inside a handbasket?
I love Carlin, and it is a shame he’s gone. Not only funny, but also made you think…
I’m thinking perhaps he’s getting ready for a big ol’ hit on the pipe. 😀
Well, I better camouflage that pipe then since it isn’t legal here yet! I’m not sure what squirrels on high would act like, but I’ll bet I’d get some great pictures!
Not sure about squirrels, but my ex used to blow pot smoke in the cats’ faces sometimes and it was hilarious.
Squirrels are clever. I reckon he knows it’s a downspout and he’s waiting for his bath.
Well, I’d imagine he picked the wrong day for that then! We should get some ice and snow tonight, though… hope be brought a warm, fluffy towel with him!
He is waiting for the wormhole to become stable so that his friend can pop out and visit. 😀
Ha! Probably a little koala from Australia!
This is my favorite! LOL!
CHESTER COME OUT THIS INSTANT! How many times have your mother and I told you not to play in the gutters, son. There’s rats in there!
They’ll chew your taaaaail off……..
OK, I didn’t follow the prompt, but that’s my story and I’m sticking to it. 😉
Some of the best stories come from those who don’t follow the rules!
The mouse that stole his acorn is in the tube. Quite frankly, the squirrel is going to be disappointed. If the mouse ever does emerge from that side of the tube again, which I doubt, it’s going to be sans acorn.
In alternative, beetles. A family of beetles. I don’t know why, but I just have this gut feeling: beetles.
