While I have used my long-running Saturday Squirrel feature to educate, entertain, and delight my readers in many different ways over the years… the whole reason I started it in the first place way back in September of 2012 was merely to showcase some of my favorite squirrel pictures I like to take in my free time. I finally got around to uploading and processing my first batch of photos for 2015, and lo and behold, I quickly came upon this picture that I probably took just a few days into the new year. There is no cheesy backstory or boring lecture required as an excuse to post this amazing photo on my blog… this is just pure, unadulterated sciurine cuteness that has always been the hallmark of any good Saturday Squirrel. And he’s one of my best ones ever…
I hope he brightens your day as he certainly has done mine!
Have a wonderful weekend everybody!
An extreme close-up! Very photogenic.
Yep! A squirrel who loves to have his picture taken!
Looks like he’s munching on some corn. That’s what I feed my little squirrel dudes. 🙂
Yep, that’s my backyard staple. “Squirrels’ favorite treat!” it says on the bags I buy…
We know whats up, yo.
yes, it’s important to hold your nuts in your paws :o) btw: I just noticed that they have beautiful eyes…
They do! Not sure if they’re Bette Davis Eyes, but they are beautiful…
who knows
what evil lurks
in the hearts
of such cute squirrels? 🙂
That is so very true!
Great capture :)!!
Thank you!
“Bless your sweet little heart, I am not sharing this corn!”
Which validates the earlier comment, “Who knows what evil lurks in the heart of such cute squirrels….”
Do you have a zoom lens or are squirrels in the US much tamer than ours here?
I can assure you my squirrels are anything but tame! I’m sure he saw me since he was staring directly at the camera, but judged me not to be a threat since I was indoors…
That picture was taken from my computer room window, and the exact spot the squirrel was sitting was only about (Go go gadget length converter!) 5 meters away from me, and another couple above my vantage point. While my camera does have a pretty good zoom, I didn’t need to zoom in too close to get that shot. I also cropped it (the full photo has the squirrel slightly off center), but I do that to pretty much all of my squirrel pictures.
It must be so cool to have a squirrel tree right outside 🙂
It is… except when said tree dumps acorns and branches on your roof!
haha, he’s a cutey! Suppose he wouldn’t take kindly to moving up to the Great White North….
LOL, he probably thinks the winters here are bad enough! Maybe not at the moment since it’s in the 50’s today!
Aw, I want a cutie like that too! But alas, it is not to be. So sad.
I should put him out on tour… he would get a lot of groupies!
Truly, classic squirrel. Excellent!!
Thank you!
Yes, that is one seriously cute squirrel that. I get the feeling he/she knows it too.
Probably… squirrels are a somewhat cocky bunch…
he is a cutie !
Yes!
We are getting fired up for aussie day celebrations here but just checking in to see our squirrelly friends. ❤
Woohoo! Happy Australia Day! I shall celebrate by throwing Buster on the barbie! 😉
Yummy! 😀
No shyness with the guy, Bill. This is one of your best, indeed. You didn’t even have to say cheese. Or acorns. Did you?
No… I just asked him to smile and say, “REEEEEEEGE!!!!”
The magic word forever. 🙂
Aww! What a cutie!
That he is!
Love him! Wonder if he’s looking for a BFF because I know of a fellow, named Fuzzy, who’d make him a great friend. They’d look so cute together in a squirrel selfie.
If that selfie got posted on social media, it might break the internet with likes….
He’s cute! He is smiling, too.
He’s such a happy squirrel!
