While there are those who greet the morning sun with open arms, most of us are not exactly ready to start the day when that alarm clock goes off. Being crepuscular animals who are most active around dawn and dusk, you’d think that squirrels would be bright eyed and bushy tailed come sunrise. But there are always exceptions…
Look at this poor critter above. He looks like he was just rousted out of his cozy little nest by the nutty photographer below who wanted to take his picture. “Go away, you stupid human! Can’t you see I’m trying to sleep in on this cold winter day!?!?”
Oops… sorry I bothered you, then. I just wanted to make you this week’s Saturday Squirrel. You may return to your leafy pillow now and go back to dreaming about…. well, whatever squirrels dream about.
Have a great weekend…. once you all fully wake up!
Aw, he’s so adorable.
Bedhead… or maybe bedtail, is adorable.
Totes.
I’m awake!
Oops! Didn’t mean to wake up the whole neighborhood!
I think I told you I’d try to get some pics of the local black squirrels for you and yesterday morning I finally did. Little booger was posing for me on the deck. I’ll email them to you.
Oh my gosh that squirrel is cute!
Don’t we all wish we could look that cute in the morning…
I’m sorry, were you saying something? I might have nodded off there for a second….
Yeah, story of my life…
That squirrel is so cute. Hmmm now I will be thinking all day on what the squirrel crepuscular equivalent to our “Owls or Larks” would be. 😀
I can’t think of any twilight birds. perhaps the squirrel himself would do!
No squirrel wants a portrait at that hour! Shame on you!
He was just wasting the day, anyway. I actually took this picture around 10:30. The lazy squirrel never gets the nut…
Being the star of Saturday Squirrel is surely worth waking up for!
You would think so…. but then again, there are days when a million dollars wouldn’t keep me from rolling back over and going to sleep. It would be tempting, but….. (yawn!) good night…
You’re lucky he didn’t bomb you with acorns or worse for your intrusion, Bill. That look would curdle my milk.
Well, since I have to sleep during the daytime, I can imagine him banging on my bedroom window at some ungodly hour like two in the afternoon for revenge….
That little guy does look sleepy. Or mad…. Either way, he’s very cute!
You can never discount the latter with a squirrel!
