It may look like this week’s Saturday Squirrel is hanging on for dear life as the part of my tree he was scampering on suddenly decided to rip away from the rest of the trunk. But that split in the tree has been there since I moved here in 2009, and as you can see from the mass of leaves crushed into the V it forms, some of my squirrels have made a nice little nest out of this mysterious formation from the tree’s past. Occasionally, one of the squirrels will even climb to the tippy top of this oversized splinter and perch there as they overlook their front yard kingdom.
Why, you might ask? Because they know damn good and well it makes for a cute picture, that’s why. My squirrels are getting better and better at hamming it up for the camera, loving the exposure they’re getting on my blog!
Speaking of exposure on my blog… have you been pondering an entry for my Second Annual Contest of Whatever? If not…. why? The month is halfway over, and there have only been two participants so far. We gotta top last year’s field of 13! You have until the early morning hours of March 1st to show off your amazing creativity!
Have a great weekend everyone!
I’m thinking about buying a decent camera so I can take pictures of my new batch of squirrels that live in my tree. My smartphone camera sucks, lol.
Maybe you could leave it outside and let them take selfies of themselves….
I actually just popped on one!
oh a pole dancer squirrel, good one :o) happy valentines day :o)
That is a crazy place to pole dance, as neither gender would want to get a splinter there….
Happy VD, Easy!
My kingdom for a gigantic nut! That’s what the squirrel is saying. Or it’s just my over imagination. 🙂
LOL! If he ends up getting that gigantic nut, I’d advise he not stand where he is now, or he’ll take that whole splinter down with him!
Ah, but would he be able to balance up there with a gigantic nut? Now there would be a picture! LOL
I was so afraid the poor squirrel was demoralized by not having a date for Valentine’s Day that he was thinking of ending it all. I’m glad it was a simple pose. I feel MUCH better now.
I don’t even want to think of the idea of heartbroken squirrels leaping from my trees! Hailstorms are bad enough…
Sounds like you’re getting your squirrels trained up right. Mine always leave their perches as soon as they see the camera.
I do a lot of my filming from open windows, particularly anything in the backyard. This one was taken from my front door. If only squirrels know how photogenic they were, they’d be much more willing to pose for the camera!
great shot! My entry is coming along nicely. Prepare to be deeply impressed! 😀
That sounds a whole lot better than preparing to be imply depressed!
Can’t wait to see it!
Quite the furry lumberjack, Bill. Wow.
He’s a furry lumberjack and he’s OK!
Little Guy and I are collaborating on an entry. I just need to write down the rules again! 🙂
Love the perch!
Woohoo! Can’t wait to see it!
I need to get my camera out and myself organised to get my post done. I have an idea, finally.
YAY!
