Back in the 80’s, the Care Bears taught us that “Sharing is Caring.” However, there’s a reason there wasn’t a squirrel among the Care Bear cousins, and that’s because squirrels are notoriously selfish creatures. They will fight each other over self-proclaimed territory… they will tear into each other over humping rights to a squirrel girl (Without even checking to see what she thinks of either of them first!)… heck, they would probably even claw and scratch at each other over some stupid toy at a Black Friday sale.
And of course, given how greedy they can act in the presence of food… you can often see displays like the one above anytime there is food involved. I will often notice when multiple squirrels are trying to eat from my corncob feeder at the same time, there will usually be a dominant critter who will chase off any intruders who dare to steal so much as a kernel off of their precious bounty. This leads to many childish alterations like the yin-yangish tussle I captured here for this week’s Saturday Squirrel.
Play nice, kids! There’s plenty for everybody!
Have a great weekend, everyone!
that care bears can talk, they are bears, they sleep in winter…that squirrels are more with carl douglas :” efurrybody is kong food fighting” :o)
Those squirrels were fast as lightning!
Good one!
I think all animals are instinctively protective between themselves, sometimes not sharing. I like to see monkeys picking nits out of each other’s hair, as well as the curious squirrels which look like fun-loving, silly critters! (I love Care Bears, due to my oldest daughter always chose t-shirts and blankets with them on. . . thanks for the smiles and memories. She turns 35 in March! Yikes!)
My sisters exposed me plenty to the Care Bears back in the day… they were a huge inspiration behind my characters. I could still name the original 10….. every…. one…. of…. them…. boy am I pathetic!
What a tangled web of tails you weave. Or tales. Like Belushi in the cafeteria with the blonde in “Animal House,” you know?
If they start throwing corn kernels all over the backyard, I’m going to have to expel them…
🙂 Report to Dean Wormer’s office, now.
No one wants to play nice anymore! They still look cute. 😉
Just as cute as me and my sisters looked when we would all fight over stuff…
I don’t think most animals ever think there’s enough for everybody. They think “OH look, food. I want it all.” They have a point.
It’s survival of the fattest….
It’s a blur of fur!
That’s what it looks like in real life too, not just through my not quite fast enough camera!
I had to do a double and triple take…wow!
Can you make heads or tails of it now?
Great pic. My son loved to watch care bears over and over and over……..and over
I remember when they got re-introduced last decade. I was a bit miffed to see they changed some of the tummy designs and even the bears’ colors, but it was nice to see a new generation would be introduced to Sharing is Caring!
