A Yard Divided

The acorns are always riper on the other side.

Don’t even think of crossing the Line of Demarcation, buddy!.

One trait common to a lot of animals is the concept of being territorial.  Heck, humans aren’t really any different… we just don’t mark what we claim to be ours by taking a leak sqturday squirrel logoon it…. usually, anyway.

Squirrels are no different in this regard… often claiming nests, trees, land, and even squirrel girls for their very own.  Here we see a pair of squirrels who seem to have come to some kind of agreement on their territorial rights in my backyard.  It looks a lot like those cartoons showing a fighting couple separating the bedroom with a line drawn through the middle… only these two critters had no paint, so they used that big stick as a physical boundary.  I’d say the squirrel on the sunny side’s got the better end of this deal, what with the stick curved outward to give him extra land…

What do you think?  Dare you take sides in this cold war between Saturday Squirrels?

Have a great weekend, and if you are so inclined, a Happy Easter!

  1. seems they are like humans… and at the end one of them has to walk the line, right?

My money’s on the guy on the left. He looks like he means business, ready to pounce. The other guy looks a bit freaked out.

Dark side vs. light. An extremely appropriate battle for the holiday weekend.

  5. If they were kids, we’d lecture them on how they have to SHARE. My son was a clever lad. I overheard him holding up another kid for his toy with the threat “Share it to me or else.”

I’ll just sit back and watch for the outcome, I’m too tired to take sides. lol
