Evil Squirrel’s Nest Comic #154 — 4/9/15

So I’m having a late dinner at Jack in the Box last night, and trying to come up with an idea for today’s comic.  Lots of partial ideas, but nothing I could run with.  I refilled my soda before turning to head towards the door and walked right over their Wet Floor sign and nearly busted my ass.  It’s strange how the muse finds ways to speak to you….

This is also kind of a sequel to this comic from February…

Since I’m typing anyway, don’t forget to submit your Friday prompt if you haven’t already done so!  I only have 8 so far, and I know I have more readers than that… I think! 😉

  1. …hahaha I love the background story!!! … that’s like real life… my mom said YES!

  2. Ally Bean says:

Wonderful. I so relate to this. Me. In a nutshell.

  3. NotAPunkRocker says:

The backgrounds sometimes make up the funniest situations. 🙂

  4. Mental Mama says:

Oh dude, I hope you’re alright. My ex was working at a fast food place, mopped the floor at closing, and went down hard. He ended up rupturing his quad muscle in his thigh and had to have surgery. It was the suck.

    • I didn’t go down… I just wound up kicking the sign across the floor. Funny thing is… I don’t think the floor was even wet. They just leave it there in front of the soda machine as CYA I guess…

      • Mental Mama says:

Good, I’m glad you’re alright. That kind of fall can seriously fuck your shit up.

      • After 17 years of working nights when the floors are always getting scrubbed/waxed, etc., I can probably walk on a wet floor better than I can a dry one. I’m more likely to trip over my own feet…. or bright yellow signs I’m not paying attention to!

  5. I tore my ACL on the wet floor of the Pancake House. I was rear-ended by a bridge safety worker while on the Tapanzee Bridge. I have not had good luck with formal safety measures. I am not sure who they protect, but I’m pretty sure it’s not ME. I feel much safer being unsafe 🙂

    • I’ve done a few safety themed comics lately, and that’s not coincidentally been inspired by our new store manager (Who’s a safety nut because “accidents don’t happen in HER store”) as well as a simultaneous compliance crackdown by corporate that has us doing all kinds of completely unproductive things that are not going to prevent the majority of the accidents we end up having anyway. So my fetish lately has been to show how some of these “safety measures” can actually cause accidents!

  6. fanrosa says:

Aisle 13…..toxic chemicals! Poor Lil, she couldn’t even manage to fall backwards on her cushioning.

As we say at Mecca, safety first, second….safety is a factor!

    • I think most of the ladies we get in my store would be wise to fall backwards rather than forward. In the event of a water landing, your bubblebutt can be used as a flotation device…

  7. draliman says:

That was somewhat surreal 🙂 I like the different types of TV!

I hate safety signs, they’re always in the way. They do the same with temporary road works signs. They stick them in the road warning you of something up ahead, forcing you to swerve over the wrong side of the road to get around them. They’re usually a bigger obstruction than the actual obstruction.

    • I passed a road construction site yesterday where they had two people assigned to holding the sign that says “SLOW.” One to stand and hold the sign, and apparently the other to supervise. And of course, they were halfway out in the one lane of traffic that was still open….

  8. I too appreciated the different types of TV. Especially “will die in 5 months”. 😉

    • I firmly believe in truth in advertising, and TV’s these days aren’t made to last at all! They put one of our TV’s we sell in the break room at work last December, and the picture on it is already starting to go out on it…
