Here’s another photo I took during my trip to the local park during my week off back in May. If this doesn’t look like a hitchhiking squirrel, I don’t know what does. Sure, he doesn’t have the thumb out, but squirrels don’t have opposable thumbs that would allow them to correctly gesture for a free ride. And I guess his mother never warned him about the dangers of accepting rides with strangers. What if the next car to come along is being driven by an axe murderer? Or Large Marge? Or a drunk skunk?
My first order of business is to nominate this fellow as this week’s Saturday Squirrel. My second will be to call him a cab.
Have a great weekend everyone… and don’t pick up any strange critters out there!
… be careful little squirrel… better watch that hitchhiker series they had at HBO once :o)
OMG! I totally thought of that show when I did this post! That and the movie “The Hitcher” from the same time period…
I’d give him a ride for sure, especially if he is willing to pay part of the cost of gasoline. Squirrels are all rich. I read that on Facebook.
They have stashes that make the money tucked away under grandma’s mattress look like pocket change. All of the currency is in acorns… but acorns retain more value than the dollar.
too late…..:-D
Whoosh! Most cars like to avoid squirrels!
Oh I meant I would pick him up if he were hitch hiking. 😀
LOL! I thought you noticed he seemed to be looking off at a car that already whizzed by him!
Thanks, now I have Lenny Kravitz in my head…
That isn’t always a bad thing…
Great photo! I’ve been trying (unsuccessfully) to catch a squirrel standing on its hind legs like that for years.
Here’s a suggestion that is almost guaranteed to work!
