That’s What It’s All About

This dance is nuts!

This dance is nuts!

sqturday squirrel logoYou put your left foot in,
You put your left foot out,
You put your left foot in,
And you shake it all about,

You do the hokey pokey
and you turn yourself around
That what it’s all about.

A few weeks ago, I noticed this squirrel out in my front yard who was hobbling around on three legs… left rear appendage extended straight out like so.

Two legs good, three legs BAD!

Two legs good, three legs BAD!

While I feared the squirrel might have been injured, it in fact took off on all four legs when I actually opened the door attempted to get a better picture of it.  Knowing it was alright, I can now look back on these pics I took of it and laugh at what looks like a bad attempt at the squirrel version of the Hokey Pokey.

Geez, can I just air out the jewels here for a minute without everyone staring?

I’d like to think squirrels have more sense than to torture themselves with such a stupid dance as the Hokey Pokey.  We had to do this ridiculous routine at the 6th grade roller skating parties I went to… talk about a lawsuit waiting to happen.  Let’s put the Hokey Pokey where it belongs… in the dancing hall of shame next to the Macarena and the Lambada.

Anyone seen a fire hydrant nearby?

For doing his best imitation of a tricycle, The Nest gives this furry tripod a leg up on being this week’s Saturday Squirrel.

Have a great weekend everyone… and shake it all about!

Maybe the little guy had a charlie horse in his leg– and was trying to stretch it out. Or he was playing his own solo version of the Hokey Pokey. That’s probably a more realistic explanation of his behavior.

    • I’ll bet that would be painful to get if you were scampering through a tree at 100 miles per hour. Being high up off the ground is the worst place to get a leg cramp…

  2. Dancing squirrels. Wow. That’s so special! I want you to know that this post caused me to reboot my router. My inability to get your pictures to load alerted me to the slowing of my router and the ultimate need to reboot it and the modem. The things I do to look at pictures of squirrels doing the hokey pokey.

    • My squirrel pictures are just so full of awesomeness, today’s routers and modems can’t even handle them! Either that, or some routers and modems have a sense of decency…

I have never seen a squirrel lift his leg up and yrs!He is doing the hokey pokey. 🙂

  4. Trisha says:

I’ve seen squirrels doing some strange things but nothing like this!

  5. draliman says:

In the first photo it looks like he’s stumbled and about to fall flat on his furry little face 🙂

  6. HaHa! So cute! Do you have the “chicken dance” there too? (cringe) and LOL! 😀

  7. Squirrels on skates. Now THAT is an idea…

  8. NotAPunkRocker says:

Now they do the Cha Cha Slide instead of the Hokey Pokey. Skaters at the rink, I mean; not squirrels.

  9. Squirrels on roller skates. I love that visual!
