A Tight Squeeze

Ummmm... a little help please?

Ummmm… a little help please?

I’ve talked before about how squirrels build nests in trees to help make their own little piece of arboreal paradise feel like a home.  These nests are often located in the forks of sqturday squirrel logotree branches where there is some support for their building materials.  But if a squirrel’s lucky enough to move into a neighborhood with a hollow section in their tree… you can bet the rodent’s going to stake a claim to that ready-made penthouse suite in two flicks of a bushy tail  These open cavities don’t have to be too large… squirrels are good at squeezing into tight spaces and still feeling nice and cozy.  But there are some built-in apartments that are just a bit too tiny for easy access.

This week’s Saturday Squirrel is probably regretting not finding a reliable contractor to make his front door just a little bit wider.  That’s an awful tiny hole for an acorn-stuffed sciurine to try passing through.  He certainly didn’t have an easy time of it…

Hang on, I'm getting the KY.

Hang on, little buddy, I’m getting the KY!

Looks like this might call for the Jaws of Life.  Time to go on a diet or upgrade to a larger home…

Have a great weekend everyone!

That looks like the fat guy putting on skinny man’s sweater, Bill. Too tight!

  3. I relate to that. Like getting stuck in the collar of ones sweater. Did my head grow? How come I’m STUCK! Poor little furry chap, all knotted up in there. Aw.

    • I’ve had a few shirts before where the head hole suddenly turned into one of the arm holes while I was putting it on. Sometimes it really isn’t easy to dress oneself….

    I hope he doesn’t get stuck 😦

Reminds me of the news last week. While news from other parts of the UK last week was all “such and such arrested for murder”, “two men arrested for assault” and whatnot, the headline from the Cornwall news desk was “Cow stuck in tree”! There was even a picture of a tree with a big hole in the trunk and a farmer trying to get his cow’s head out :-).

    Must…not…make…dirty…sounding…comment…

Not the best idea a squirrel has ever had. I hope the little dude was able to get out of there!

    • Apparently he did since those were the only two pictures I got of him. With my nearsightedness, I had no idea what the squirrel was even doing until I uploaded the pictures and noticed he was trying to worm his way into a little hole! This is from the batch I took at the local park back in May… I’m pretty sure neither of my own trees have entrances like this…

“Look, Ethel! That tree is shitting a squirrel!”

  8. gentlestitches says:

so thats where baby squirrels come from?…….:-D
