Four loitering, incorrigible youths… or maybe the next band to be featured on MMM.

meccamuzakmondaysIt’s Monday, so it’s time for another super cut from the soundtrack to my worknight on Mecca Muzak Monday.  It’s been a strange weekend at The Nest.  I had no internet at all Saturday… then when I get back online, I find out I’m getting bombarded with traffic because my bizarre “xxxxxxxxxxxl” searches are going through the roof… and on top of that, an image I “borrowed” from Google and inserted in the going home part of My Millionaire Journey was further borrowed for an article that has managed to go completely viral.  And since they linked to the post I put that picture in…. well, I’ve had lots of visitors.  But no chatter or interaction.  The web is so full of lurkers…

And creepers, of course.

And creepers, of course.

Oh, the homepony would like me to get back to the muzak.  Today’s featured band is yet another indie act that has gotten a lot of airplay in big box stores across the country… a British outfit by the name of Life In Film.  They released a single earlier this year called “Get Closer” that landed in the 7th hour of the short-lived 2015 Summer CD.  This is a nifty little tune!

Don’t worry… the entire verse with the F-bomb was not played in the Mecca version of the song, though that’s a shame.  The kids would have loved it…

Damned censors are no fun at all!

Damned censors are no fun at all!

There’s a comment on the YouTube page for this video that compares Life In Film’s version of this song to The English Beat, which I think is a pretty spot on comparison.  It has a bit of that alternative 80’s sound to it, which is probably why I like it so much.

Join me next week for another awesome bit of modern muzak… just be careful not to trip over all of the nameless wanderers traipsing through my humble internet home…

Dude, nice blog!

  1. the video reminded me a little of Aha’s Take on me… but the muzak was much better than efurrything that the Aha-morton-guy ever wrote :o) … that’s a great song when I have to wait for a parking lot … including the f-thing

Hey I say if you’re going to go for it – go for the gold. Everyone appreciates a little F bomb every once in a while – even this oinker – snorts. XOXO – Bacon

  3. I remember this song. I don’t know why. When new songs come out my partner in crime (my 16 year old) and I always try to figure out if it will be a one hit wonder. Maybe we should add Muzak to that list.

    • You never know what you will hear in your local retail store anymore. I can assure you Mecca’s muzak is unlike any I’ve heard anywhere else, though. At least the CD’s were, and I now miss them because most nights this month since the “new and improved” Mecca Radio debuted, we’ve been listening to a 2:15 loop of the same 37 songs over and over and over again. I already know them all and have the order written down for posterity… it’s sad!

  4. And my comment was down just far enough that I have to look at the ALMOST NAKED FAT GUY. Noooooooooo.

I actually liked that. I’m sure knowing it wasn’t by some POS puke that Americans inexplicably worship helped me be more open to liking it but, still, I agree: nifty little tune!

  6. That weird combination of hits and viralness has happened to me too. I think probably to a lot of us. It is inexplicable and apparently has nothing to do with use, personally. It’s just something that happens. Every time something on my site has gone sorta viral (just sort of, never the real deal), it has left me saying HUH? It’s never a post of which I’m particularly proud and sometimes, involves something I really don’t like at all. It falls under my ever-growing category of “go figure.”

    • The internet acts in mysterious ways. But I always shake my head when WP wants to emphasize what our most viewed posts are as examples of what we should be writing. Ummmmm…. no. I don’t think my readers want me inserting pictures of morbidly obese men in each of my posts. In fact, I’m sure of it…

How dare they click and lurk and not say Howdy Doodie, Bill. And Life in Film does carry that 80s alt feel. Good call.

  8. Good track to work with and who doesnt drop the occasional f bomb at work (even if it inaudible)?

  9. Mental Mama says:

I’d love to hear it but the damn thing keeps buffering… Fucking YouTube…

    • I hate that when YouTube can’t get its act together. It seems to be worse when I try to watch something full screen… of course, it might help it both of my computers weren’t 6 years old…

This is a rather jaunty and not disagreeable little number. I like the video too, I bit “a-ha Take On Me”-ish.
I don’t know why it was censored for Mecca, I hear naughty words are all the rage in US supermarkets these days (Target, California)…
