Hiya! There’s no dress code on this blog, right?

meccamuzakmondaysIt’s Monday, and there are only 11 shopping days left until Christmas!  There are also sadly only three earworms left until the justifiable termination of your favorite start of the week ritual known as Mecca Muzak Monday.  The Nest’s homeponeh DJ Scratchy is readying her eclectic musical archive for when I give her free reign over what songs she can play after the first of the year… but for now, she still has to stick with the Mecca classics, and today’s most excellent choice is a high energy choice that will have you rocking from the cheap seats…

More than likely you have heard of the band that goes by the rather unimpressive name of “fun.”  You probably know that group’s lead singer, Nate Reuss, since fellow punctuation lover P!nk gave him just one reason to do a duet with her.  But also hailing from that trio is a man named Jack Antonoff, and after fun. was dun. putting themselves on the map a few years ago, he came up with a side project called Bleachers that was one of those Five For Fighting type one-man acts I so despise.

Former Surgeon General Jocelyn Elders was about the only person who knew how to appreciate a one-man act.

All sarcasm aside, at least Antonoff’s Bleachers’ music totally rocks.  Combining modern indie rock with classic 80’s style, the side project solo band burst onto the scene in February of 2014 with its debut single “I Wanna Get Better,” which got national exposure in all Mecca stores across the country during the last hour of that year’s Summer CD…

That’s a very strange video unless you’re into watching idiots try to hold their breath underwater… or guys who take baths fully clothed.  I think whoever conceived the idea for that lyric video needs to try getting better…

They've finally run out of music video ideas, it appears...

Bleachers had a follow up song, “Rollercoaster,” that got slotted in the 9th hour of the amazing Spring CD from this year that I always rave about.  While I don’t like it near as much as I like “Get Better,” it’s certainly worth including in a MMM two-for-one…

Hey, you gotta admit this stuff is better than the Christmas muzak I was posting last December, don’t you think?

Even The Biebs agrees!

I’ll have more muzak that will drive you to retail madness next Monday!

I’m not really into watching idiots try to hold their breath under water but I’ve seen worse videos!

    • That’s true, there were even a lot of bad videos from the awesome 80’s. I have to think that drowning yourself in the bathtub has to signify the end of the creativity line or something…

I’m a huge fan of I Want to Get Better. It’s in the running for my song of the year!

  4. I’m impressed at your ability to keep finding muzak and music and some combination of the aforementioned. And remember something about them because I can’t remember anything. Even when it’s someone I actually know personally, there’s only a 50-50 chance I’ll remember his or her name … yikes.

    • But keep in mind, I’m finding most of my tidbits from the ever-reliable Wikipedia… which I am told only cites the most reliable sources of information on the internet. The rest of the space is just filled in with my usual sarcasm…

  5. Both very listenable if not equally watchable. (I keep wanting that guy to breathe) 😀

Justin B sang on the Voice and I liked it last night!
