  1. next time I will do it the squirrel way… that’s the only way to feel better… for some minutes. but I rather wait till christmouse is over, the prices for a new one are currently too high :o)

  2. Piglove says:

Snorts! That’s what I’m doing wrong. I need to chunk it at Rocky the Squirrel’s tree in my backyard. Thanks for that advice my friend – snorts. XOXO – Bacon

  3. Garry and I get daily — and increasingly frantic — messages from Microsoft warning us, cajoling us, threatening us, begging us — to upgrade to Windows 10. Sometimes I have to reboot to get them to go away. As for the scans, well, y’know. The longer you put it off, the more awful it gets 😉 Loved this one.

    • This comic was inspired by one of the free antivirus programs someone once convinced me to download to my laptop… which was fine and benign… until it recently updated a couple weeks ago. Now it is incessantly reminding me I need to DO SOMETHING. I never even have it on long enough to complete a scan, let alone start one. I hate the endless string of popups from my own programs that I have to cycle through EVERY TIME I log in….

  4. Trisha says:

I reached this point with Google a few weeks ago after ignoring their threats about needing to upgrade my storage. They finally froze up my email account. I wish I could rip everything Google out of my computer and throw it out the window! (after checking for squirrels and possums down below, of course.) I didn’t even ask for their stupid auto back-ups of everything. My antivirus program, on the other hand, has been quiet for a very long time. Probably disabled by Google!

    • I still use my old Yahoo account, and their mail service totally sucks and is extremely slow…. but I’ve heard such awful things about Google, so Yahoo’s probably still better! Google is also responsible for masking all those funny search terms my blog used to get before they tried “protecting users’ privacy” (yeah, right), so they are not on my nice list…

      • Trisha says:

I will end up switching over to Yahoo once I find a new photo editing and storage program and can extricate myself from Google, which I’m betting will take getting a new computer. Google creeps in everywhere and then makes it impossible to close out accounts and turn off services. The only reason I haven’t already banished them from my computer is because my photo library is on Picasa. Well, that and I don’t how to get rid of all the programs I never willingly installed in the first place! Sucky, slow email service seem a small price to pay for getting rid of Google. You were smart to stay away from them!

  5. The Cutter says:

The cure is worse than the disease

  6. YES! Sometimes I don’t even click No, I just yell at the screen, “Don’t tell me what to do.”

  7. Every time I see you’ve used that photo of Marshall Applewhite I have to laugh. It isn’t funny, but it really is. It really really really is.

    • And that’s why I keep using it… it’s just so creepily hilarious. I try to find a new way to exploit his uncanny mug every week…

How anyone could have thought he was some prophet is beyond me…

  8. draliman says:

Sounds a bit like Windows 10 randomly installing updates and rebooting in the middle of something…
I hear “Fireskunk” is the new “it” browser.

  9. Quirky Girl says:

An 18 day scan?!? I don’t even like waiting 20 minutes for it to do its thing, so I’d imagine my computer would’ve long been drop-kicked from the top of a very tall skyscraper by day three. Tops. 😛

  10. reocochran says:

I hate the way things in computers have a mind of their own. I get upset and find turning it off for a day teaches it to leave me alone! Hope reading books makes you feel better. I miss reading books because blogging is a full time~after work~way of life. Forget about dating!! 🙂

  11. Gosh this all happened so insidiously, my pc seems to be always doing things lately and it has creepy little messages like “don’t turn off your computer” Well done for noticing how bossy the computers are getting and more importantly, providing the cure! Buster has made a big sacrifice.

  12. Computers are a pain. I gave in and did the Windows 10 upgrade, and it’s actually not been too painful (thus far – I’ve still got all my fingers crossed).

An interesting way for Buster to die this week. But not for the computer, because it technically had a soft (ish) landing!

    • And I wasn’t even bothered by that since both my computer and laptop aren’t eligible for the upgrade being Vista runners. Buster’s got a pretty hard noggin, so don’t underestimate the damage being done to that monitor…
