Because of the time I spent putting together my Pony Christmas Carol series, I was very neglectful in my reading of everyone else’s blogs for much of last week. So I finally settled down on late Christmas Eve night/early Christmas morning to go through the backlog. While I was catching up, I happened to glance up towards my window at the perfect time to catch the full (or damn near full) moon peeping in right at the spot where one of the slats in my blinds is broken. I immediately grabbed my camera before the moon sank any lower in the sky to snap this shot for my final
Wednesday Tuesday Picture Day of the year!
It was a much more welcome Christmas scene than the one I was going to post….
That is a photo I took on the morning of the 23rd… a scene which was repeated on Saturday when it rained and stormed ALL DAY LONG. It’s late freaking December, for crying out loud!!! It continued to rain all weekend and into Monday for a whopping 9+ inches of rain in a 60 hour span! Yeah, it wouldn’t have been nice to have all that precipitation as snow since it would’ve wound up being about 4379023433 inches, but still… enough of the rain! I know there are places that need it more than we do, and this is not a place that’s prone to monsoon conditions…
After scheduling this for the normal Wednesday run, I decided to go ahead and fire it off today just in case the infamous WordPress helper monkeys pay my mailbox a visit tomorrow. Either way, I’ll probably dedicate Wednesday to the year that was instead of my shitty photography…
I’ll try to do better next week… and next year!
What a perfectly timed picture of luna. It was like he was saying hello there. And yes we agree about the rain. It needs to stop like NOW. Last night, mom got stuck in the car in the driveway here at the house. It was raining so hard she feared getting out for drowning. Shaking my piggy head. XOXO – Bacon
The rain’s just been awful! I can hardly remember a time where we had this much rain in a few days, and a lot of places around me are flooded out. Oddly enough, in the last week, the only clear days we had were the 24th and 25th! It’s like the clouds gave the full Christmas moon a break…
That is so true. It happened here as well like that. But rain has been here every since. It’s awful indeed. This rain and yuck, makes me a little ill. I can admit that. I’m a man pig. XOXO – Bacon
Senor Nino has much to answer for. It is freezing in the sub tropical swamp.
It looks like it’s going to be a rather interesting winter. Of course, it’s still got a couple months to straighten out….
I don’t think its going to straighten out. The climate is changing (whatever the reason) and I think we will see more extreme weather. Plagues of frogs next… 🙂
You’re more than welcome to send all that water out here to California.
If it would all fit inside a USPS flat rate box, it’d already be on the way!
An elegant solution to the “moon photo” conundrum. Most of the oaks here still have a lot of leaves clinging, so there IS no sky. No moon. Just trees. You came up with a GREAT solution.
If my oak were still leafy, the moon would’ve likely been blocked even in that shot. Any remaining leafs have all long since been washed out by the deluge of rain and wind the last few days….
The freezing rain kept me awake all night but we finally have snow. I’m over it already…but the wild turkeys are whooping it up! It’s a mad, mad world!
I guess it’s a good thing someone’s enjoying this weather! Or maybe the turkeys are just happy the holidays are finally over!
Looks like Santa should have brought some ski doos to your squirrel friends too! Or built a bridge for them.
Poor things couldn’t stay holed up during this whole storm! They were out and about Monday morning in the pouring rain trying to do their thing. Most of the nest that was in my tree out back has been washed out. I imagine they’ll be busy putting their world back together now that it’s finally drying out….
Beautiful Christmas moon. ❤
It would have reflected nicely off my short-lived lake out back!
Pretty much the same weather as we’re having. It’s blowing a gale too!
So I guess I shouldn’t send you any of our rainwater… 😉
Nah, you’re alright 🙂
It’s been very wet here too. And very windy. One of our oak trees (from which I was collecting fallen acorns for the squirrels at one of our branch houses) has lost a limb. So I’ve hugged it a couple of times. Said tree limb will not be wasted; it will be chopped up and allowed to dry out and used for firewood.
Full moons always manage to stream through blinds, if not the slats, the holes will happily step in. 😵
