It’s time to put the hump back into Wednesday with another fine piece of bonerfide shitty photography in the weekly feature we like to call Picture Day here at The Nest! Warning: the following post is not for the acrophobic….
Last week, Cee’s “Share Your World” prompt that a number of my followers answer on their blogs contained a rather strange question…
Would you like to sleep in a human size nest in a tree or be snuggled in a burrowed spot underground?
So last week while I was taking a well deserved vacation on Mecca’s tab, I tried to make a stop at the park hoping for some good squirrel pictures while all the leaves were gone from the trees. It wound up being too cold and cloudy for the critters to be out and about…. but before I left I did take this interesting photo….
That telephone pole in the foreground provides plenty of perspective of just how high up that squirrel’s nest is off the ground. Ground that, incidentally, happens to be very hard concrete since that branch extends over a paved walk-through garden. Could you imagine a squirrel or two sitting in that nest on the very end of a branch that has to be at least 100 feet off the ground over a very splattable sidewalk? Would you want to be the baby squirrels born in that nest and having to look down at certain doom if your pesky little brother decided to start rocking the branch?
Is that underground burrow starting to sound like a pretty good idea now?
Hopefully you will be over your vertigo when I return with another inspired picture next week…
