Meow!

Please, sir. I want some more.

Please, sir. I want some more.

picture dayIt’s Wednesday Picture Day at The Nest, and while this was not the photo I wanted to run this week… when I uploaded the batch of pics it was on this morning and saw this week-old pic I still had on my camera, there was no damn way I could resist holding it back another week.

This cute and extremely friendly calico has been lurking about my hood the past few weeks, sometimes in the companionship of a cat I call “Sewer Rat” because the first time I saw him he scared my Mom by jumping out of the sewer in front of my house while she was dropping me off after lunch.  The first day I encountered her, she followed me up to my doorstep, proceeded to just invite herself in my nest, and got in a randy little hissing match with Ody upon discovering that I was already taken in the feline capacity twice over.

Your new friend can kiss my behind!

Your new friend can kiss my behind!

Last Wednesday morning, I came home from work to find both Calico and Sewer Rat sitting on my front porch.  While the rat bolted when I opened the door to offer up some of my kibble, Callie was only too happy to see me, but seemed disappointed that I wouldn’t let her in… and that’s when I got the heartstring tugging photo that leads off this post.

I’m not sure if these two cats are true strays, or are merely indoor/outdoor cats of one of my neighbors (I do only see them occasionally)… but if I weren’t fiercely opposed to taking in a third cat (or blowing more money to have them anatomically altered), I’d definitely consider letting her stick around.  Or I guess I could always just throw Biskit out in the cold and call it a fair trade….

You're such an asshole, do you know that?

I’ll be back next week with my regularly scheduled Picture Day…

Miss Calico is a little doll baby, but you best respect the Biz!

    • Biskit knows how to keep me in line. While Ody will just whine like a tittybaby when he thinks I’m neglecting him, Biskit will come up to me and start tapping on my arm, like “Hey, Mister! I demand some petting!”

  2. it’s great to get some visitors :o) we had a “stray” for some weeks once too… but after talking with the neighbors we found out it wasn’t a stray but probably the twin of garfield who begged his way through the whole village after his owner put him on a die-t :o)

That is one sweetie pie of a kitty face. Biskit has some stiff competition if he wants to continue living the good inside life. 😉

Little Calico is pretty cute, but you can’t be chucking out poor Biskit 😦

It’s so hard to say no to a stray especially the sweet ones. I worry about them out in the cold. I’ve taken them in, had them fixed and find homes. It’s a job I try not to take on anymore.

    • I’ve never encountered a friendly, potentially stray cat before this one, so it threw me for a loop since most of them will run from you. I really hope she’s a neighbor’s cat, though I’ll feed her any time she shows up at my door. I feel bad for my poor squirrel friends who have to freeze as well, but they’d get food too if they pressed their faces to my door like that!

Oh poor kitty. I’m glad she has you for treats. 😉 We sometimes get stray cats around here but they don’t last too long. Coyotes. Yeah, we live out in the country and people are stupid. We still have a few that roam around here but they are regulars and know to go inside at night.

Miss Callie is SO adorable! That is definitely a heartstring tugging photo. I feel my heartstrings being tugged from halfway across the country. I wish she was at my door, even though Trouble and Scooby probably wouldn’t allow her in. I miss having a female animal companion. And those sweet eyes of Callie’s….I want her!

    • It’s the cat eyes that make that photo so adorable, and I’m kicking myself for not commenting on them! The only thing sweeter would be if a squirrel came up to my door and made those eyes at me…

  8. It’s so hard to say now, eh? I can see it. That little sweetie will soon be yours and you’ll be feeding The Rat too. And then their friends. Soon, the “crazy cat people” patrol will have you on their radar and oh woe is you! Take care. THEY are watching YOU.

    • We actually have a hoarder law where I live that limits a household to no more than three cats or dogs. While she wouldn’t put me in Crazy Cat Dude territory, it would definitely be a step in the wrong direction. She will continue to be fed when (and if) she shows up again…. and not to the coyotes….

Aw, take her in!!! What a sweetie kitty.

We have three cats inside and Katniss outside…. She comes twice a day now for food. Sigh.

  11. Lynda says:

We used to have three kitties. Claus, Lil’ Bit, and Neville. You knew Claus. Well anyway one night he wanted out and the next morning he didn’t come back. Ever. 😦 Keep an eye out for that Calli-cat she’s a sweetie and needs someone to take care of her.

    • Awwww. I’m not sure what this calico’s story is, but I haven’t seen her since the day I took that picture (Now 11 days ago). Then again, I haven’t been out much lately with how cold and nasty it’s been…

      • Lynda says:

Well, maybe she was just a big mooch and her owners have taken pity on her and are keeping her in? We can only hope! I trust if she returns you will let us know. ❤

  12. Biskit isn’t going anywhere! 😀

  13. Can you create a kitty motel by your back door? A plastic crate with some blankets in, and a water bowl, and put food out when you see the cat(s). Then, hopefully, you’ll get to a point where you can pick them up and then find out if they’ve still got all their bits…

  14. Awww, how could you deny that wee face you big meanie lol
