Trees can look quite pretty when they are blooming in the Springtime, elegant when they are fully leafed in the Summer, and breathtaking when they are colorfully plumed in the Autumn. But the bare trees of winter have a certain charm to them as well… especially when they resemble a complex, wiry grid like the tree in the photo above does. And the best thing of all about naked trees is that there’s nowhere for their arboreal inhabitants to hide from the prying eyes of their human admirers below. If I’d have taken this picture in July rather than January, there’s no way I’d have ever seen that squirrel rocketing up that diagonal branch like a missile being launched from the trunk.
So this week, you not only get a cute Saturday Squirrel, but some aesthetically pleasing branch art to go along with it!
Have a great weekend everyone!
Hope you and the squirrels have a great weekend too!
Pam
Thank you! Given the wet forecast, the squirrels will probably want to stay inside for most of it.
therefore we call it world wide web, right? because it is everywhere… even in trees :o)
Yes it is! That might be where the spammers hide… in the tops of trees. In fact, I believe the Bank of Nigeria has a branch in that tree! 😉
Bare to the bones those trees are. No hiding there – XOXO – Bacon
Nope! Wilson took all of the leaves for his nest!
Snorts! Too funny my evil friend. XOXO – Bacon
P.S. You got some more new comments for Ody on your Spotlight Thursday. You mind answering some questions there for me when you get a chance? Thanks
Checking it out right now…
That squirrel is so low to the branch I didn’t see it right away. But then I was looking for spiderwebs at first. My caffeine hasn’t kicked yet. Once I read squirrel and branches like spiderwebs, they popped right out at me! I wonder if the squirrels rejoice when they get their privacy screen back in the spring?
I’ll bet they do! Not only for privacy, but to serve as cover for their acorn ambushes!
He looks funny all stretched out like that!
Must have been spending too much time on the rack…
That’s a squirrel in full gallop!
I like the skeleton trees … at least for photographic purposes. It’s also when I can actually see the sky. After the leaves arrive, all I can see it canopy. We could have thousands of squirrels up there and I’d never see them.
So it’s not bobcats. You just have a bunch of snowbirding squirrels who only hang around in the warmer months when you can’t see them!
It’s super squirrel the space cowboy! 😄
I hope his cape doesn’t get caught on a branch!
LOL! Blast those capes! My boy had superhero day at his gymnastics last Thursday and the footnote said “no capes” Had to laugh!
