Squirrels are notoriously busy bees this time of the year gathering up anything edible they 
can get their paws on and burying it for a cold winter’s day. The autumn grind really seems to have this guy stressed out, though. The zombified look on his face, the ultra frizzy tail, the prematurely grey fur…. oh wait, that’s natural. You deserve a break from whatever it is that’s got you wound up like a Swiss watch… whether it’s been too much gathering nuts in the yard, or too much watching nuts debate on your television. As this week’s Saturday Squirrel, you get the privilege of taking the whole weekend off! Enjoy it, dude, and you’ll be ready to face whatever comes your way on Monday…

It’s not easy being a squirrel with the threat of a cold, hard, nutless winter looming over your furry head and tail – no sirrrreeeee……hopefully they have all packed away plenty of supplies for whatever Old Man Winter drags our way. This particular guy looks ALERT and ready to fight for rights to the nut he just found on the ground – the guy with the camera looks squirrely and he doesn’t want to take any chances…….

I typically buy bags of shelled peanuts and stop eating them once the bag gets down to about 1/4 full, so I tossed several of the remnants of those bags out yesterday… and it didn’t take long for them to come and add those to their buried stashes! This photo actually came from that set, and I liked it enough to hold off on the peanut wielding squirrels for another week…
I’m all about stress free! Unfortunately I am singing at a funeral this afternoon so today…not so much 😦
Great picture of the squirrel. They have been busy little bees in my yard as of late also… drives my dogs crazy! *sigh*

He’s got that slightly crazed look that my squirrels have right now too. I bet he was considering pouncing you to see if you had any food!
Luckily he was far enough away…. and there were lots of peanuts I’d just tossed out the window between me and him to use as a distraction!
