From no idea what design I was going to carve to glowing for your amazement and amusement in about two hours. Meet The Nest’s official 2016 Squirrel O’Lantern!
As usual, there are some aspects I really love (the raven and the squirrel tail came out perfect), and some I’m not too thrilled with (It’s a zombie bunny with a squirrel tail!). That bat was carved entirely freestyle because I twice drew it incorrectly on the punkin and couldn’t see through the mess to try and add a third set of lines… so considering the circumstances, it came out halfway decent…
We’ll see what people have to say about it tomorrow evening… but for now, feel free to tell me what you’d think if you came to my door and saw that squirrel o’lantern on my porch!
I like it. It’s definitely you. Happy Howliween. 🎃
Thank you, and a happy Howliween to you!
I would think it’s adorable!!! I’ve never seen one like that before. Hope you have a ball!
Thank you! I do a spooky squirrel carving like this every Halloween… probably the only one who does so!
I think you did great!
Thanks!
Original, something different, not too bad for Halloween.
Nothing says Halloween like a cute little zombie squirrel…
Not cute – it looks sufficiently aggro!
I love it. Spooky! Happy 🎃.
There was a song about a spooky little squirrel. Happy Pumpkin to you as well! 😉
Well I’d be saying “this must be where the Evil Squirrel lives – wonder if he’s handing out acorns for treats?!”…………..then I’d wait patiently for my acorns. Seriously though – the punkin’ looks GREAT!
Pam
I should scoop a bunch of acorns up and give them out! They are probably better for kids teeth than actual candy…
Although acorns are HARD and might break those delicate little kiddy teeth! Now if you cover the acorns in chocolate, I might even try one! HAHAHA
Pam
I think it’s a masterpiece. I used to do really complicated pumpkin carving, but yours is way more complex than mine were. It’s great! It’s ART! Take more pictures!
I like having that Ctrl-Z to undo mistakes when I draw stuff on the computer…. but there is no Ctrl-Z for pumpkin carving. Given how often I screw up, I’m surprised I am any good at it at all…
I think it is very suitable for Halloween, and it is unique model. So it is great!
Thanks!
I love it! The squirrel looks quite devilish to me and I love its big, fluffy tail. I bet at least one trick-or-treater will have scary squirrel dreams!
Well, that would go against my philosophy of spreading a love of squirrels to the next generation. I don’t need squirrels to be compared to creepy clowns…
Very nice. The art of pumpkin 🎃 carving eludes me!
I know how to cut a bitch pumpkin….
I like that! Very well done.
Thanks!
Very cool! I’d certainly run for my life when I saw it. After I got my sweeties.
Hmmmmm…. I don’t think that’s supposed to be how it works. I’ll have to make it even scarier….
it’s super great!!!! we tried to make the best from our chewed pumpkins, but it’s not such an artpiece as yours!!! Happy Howl-o-ween :o)
Thanks! Chewed up pumpkins are an art form in their own…. very abstract and post modern!
LOVE it!!!
Thanks!
Amazing. Squirrel or zombie bunny, it’s quite the frightening carving either way, so good job. :-).
Brilliant. If I saw that on a doorstep tho’, I think I might be a little scared to knock!!
Only the brave get treats…
