The Ottoman Emperors

A rare moment of sharing is caring at The Nest.

A rare moment of sharing is caring at The Nest.

Picture Day…… Wednesday it is, right?  Between the first week of January always being a blur and the fact that I’m not working this week, I’m about as messed up as ever on my days of the week.  If my squirrel wolf calendar is correct, it is indeed that day for picture dayhumping…

It wasn’t much of a Christmas this year, and that was by design.  But my Mom just can’t help herself.  She has a crippling need to buy people stuff… and along with the Douchepitcher replica that appeared in Friday’s SCT, I also got this nifty red ottoman that is completely useless to me since my butt spends most of its time parked in my computer desk chair.  At least the cats how have something else to lie on before they turn it into their new favorite scratching post.  They were kind enough to pose on The Nest’s new treasure since Mitzi the Bimbocorn was unavailable due to a gynecologist’s appointment.  Not that she wouldn’t love to sprawl out on it, I’m sure, but I don’t think Ody and Biskit have the same idea of playtime that she does…

The Rainbow Mouse will vouch for that...

The Rainbow Mouse will vouch for that…

I’ll have more photos from the lounge next Wednesday…

  1. I hope you have a very comfortable and supportive desk chair. When I finally got a good one, it improved my life. Now, though, I do laptop on lap in recliner. Definitely the way to go 🙂

    • For the longest time, I just used a spare dining room chair. Then I got me a really cheap office chair from Mecca. The best part is that it swivels. I’m a habitual swiveler, as everyone who saw me on TV 16 years ago can attest to…

  2. that’s a mighty fine throne for your furkids… maybe it will inspire you to a critter version of GOT?

Mr Midnight, one of my furry friends from our blog “Gilmours Nice Place”, said he would love to have a scratch on that beautiful red object you got from your mummy. It looks so tempting!
Sir Winston also envies your two pussy cats. He says it´s a shame I didn´t purchase such a wonderful object!
Best New Year greetings from the three of us. 🙂

  4. Gosh…..it sure is ELECTRIC RED…..and if the cats find it an attractive spot from which to observe the goings on at The Nest, then I’d say your Mom did well!

    • It definitely stands out among the mostly dull colors of everything else in the living room. As tempting as it would be to bring it into the computer room where I do most of my living, there just isn’t any room in here…. though I’d be shocked if it doesn’t turn up as a SCT prop at some point…

We love ottoman emperors – so regal upon their throne. And Bashful – Lord help us. He is telling stories and sometimes we still get a whiff of something… so weird. XOXO – Bacon
P.S. Happy New Years my evil friend

  6. draliman says:

Well, at least the cats are fans of your new furniture.

  7. What have I done? How is it possible that I sit on that beautiful ottoman in your house? Or is it my kaksoisolento, oh what is that in english, mom! Doppelganger, oh, thanks. an excellent photo anyway.

  9. A royal throne for the royalty. Niiice.

  10. chattykerry says:

Our small empress enjoys her ottoman, also. I can’t write on a desk chair – need to have my feet up on the sofa.

    • Back in my chatroom days, that was the only way to fly when all I had to do was type. For anything else, though, I want that mouse by my right hand… those touchpads (at least the one on my laptop) are crap…

  11. Trisha says:

Cats are so weird the way they perch on new things. It’s nice that yours are willing to share their new throne!

  12. Ladybuggz says:

I at first miss read the title of your Wed. post..I was cracking up with laughter..I thought it said “Ottoman Empire” lol… I was going to give you a history lesson but the “Red Ottoman” just made it funnier..sorry I’m on drugs! I pictured the old guys perched on their horses in red garb with their swords drawn! LMAO!!….T.

  13. I’ve been so far behind on my reading…
You know, and they won’t tell you, that cats call it the Otterman Empire. There was this Otter and he knew that one day, no matter how cute he was, that one day, one day in the distant future, that the CATS would take over. Not just the cute factor but everything. Even a new calendar and an empire couldn’t help. That is your TRUE history lesson for today.

And damn those cats of yours are cute.
