Looks like someone’s happy winter ended early…
Have you ever taken a photo before and not realized just what you had until you went to 
upload it to the computer (Or got the print back from the Fotomat in the olden days)? Sure, we’ve all had that experience before. It happens to me quite often because my camera can see a hell of a lot better than I can. My distance vision is a little sketchy. So when I take a photo of a squirrel like I did yesterday morning that’s in my neighbor’s tree about 45 feet away from me… I can tell there’s a squirrel where I’m aiming, but I can’t always tell what exactly that squirrel is doing….

Well, now I did see this little fellow’s partner… but since they were mainly hanging out off to the side of the tree where my vision of them was slightly obscured, I had no idea they were doing this. Well, ’tis the season for squirrel romance and all that good stuff! Nobody likes a case of blue nuts. Plus, they gotta keep making more since it’s a rough world out there for our urban wildlife…
Speaking of it being a rough world…. would you mind if me and my squirrelfriend have a little privacy here?
Oh, I’m very sorry about that. You just go on doing your business out there for everyone to see. I’ll go inside now and leave this week’s sexy Saturday Squirrels to their own devices…

It seems, the little one was quite happy, not to have to spend 4 hours mating … you see, rather inconvenient, when you could get hunted by a predator.
That does sometimes happen to poor, horny squirrels who don’t pay attention to their surroundings while the blood is somewhere besides their head. But what a way to go…

By summer, babies will be in the nest!
We had once a squirrel nest in our garden. The babies, when they came out for the first time, were very small and there tails looked liked a bit of a woollen yarn.

Maybe you will soon have squirrelly babies! Oh the joy of tiny furry creatures! One day, they will discover you and it will no longer be pictures. They will follow you from yard to yard. Probably, if I don’t miss my guess, begging for food!
I have yet to see these little babies for all the humping and banging going on. Maybe squirrels have access to birth control now. Little tiny squirrel raincoats. Just as long as they don’t throw them in my yard…

I would love to see some little ones, but they’re mostly grown up by the time I see them. Hopefully I can get some interesting tails, though…. immature tails get those neat patterns like Foxy and Squirrelcoon had!
Yes, hopefully! I would love to see more photos of crazy-tailed squirrels. I haven’t seen any interesting markings on the squirrels around here since that one with the white-tipped tail was around.
