Just because we here at The Nest aren’t big fans of Better Homes and Gardens and have that front yard that manages to devalue an entire neighborhood’s worth of homes doesn’t mean that we can’t appreciate a fellow squirrel who knows how to enjoy the outdoor life. Look at this happy fellow sitting on the front porch outside of his cozy arboreal dwelling. The only thing missing from this picture perfect shot of Americana is the porch swing and a handful of young rabblerousers for our proud property owner to chase off of his finely mowed bark……. er, lawn.
For maintaining such a happy and earth friendly home, the Neighborhood Squirrel Watchers Association would like to bestow the honor of Saturday Squirrel upon this furry weekend warrior…
Have a great weekend everyone!
He’s definitely smiling…..definitely!

A squirrel’s home is a happy home!
From the photos you have shown from neighbouring properties, I am convinced your garden is rather increasing the value of properties …
The house with the door beaten down was bought and completely renovated a couple years ago, so I’m back to being the neighborhood eyesore. Even the squirrels keep their yard looking better than mine…
Now that is pesky neighbours for you, there you were, fitting in into the neighbourhood so well, and then they come and change the neighbourhood.
Get off my branch, you rabblerouser…
I wrote this post right after you made that comment, so I had to reuse it…
It’s a word worthy of reuse, just like Tampon boxes…
A happy squirrel is a beautiful thing.
Yes. It’s when that smile is a shit eating grin that you have to be a bit nervous…
He looks very proud of his tree hole.
He probably invites all his friends over to see his hole…
And a fine squirrel he is!
We are lucky. Our disastrous property is so tucked away, no one knows whether it affects the neighborhood or not. What neighborhood?
If I lived outside the city limits, I probably wouldn’t even cut my grass. Especially since I have a veritable football field for a backyard…
What a great shot! I am delighted to hear that your squirrels are living the American dream… (he just needs a tiny flag)
I’ll have to find him one. Apparently, the American dream is now considered to be Spam since that’s where this comment went, which is why I’m a week late in replying!
SPAM – how dare they!!!
Aw, now that’s the kind of neighbor I like – a happy squirrel! I guess I can’t really complain about any of my human neighbors but I do prefer the squirrel kind.
Happy squirrels would never block your driveway or have their kids run around the neighborhood like they own it.
Hope the HOA dues are low. Nice pic. 🙂
Wouldn’t that be a TOA? 😉
Hahaha! You know, I think you’re absolutely right!
That’s one cute squirrel. Ours are never that cheerful looking.
That must be because you don’t take enough pictures of them. Treat them like a star, and they will smile for you!
Yes, indeed. My bad.
