L Is For…

Happy Tuesday the 13th everyone!  Don’t worry about those silly superstitions… you have nothing to fear today unless you happen to have ellophobia.  That’s because it’s time for the next installment in The Nest’s Photography A to Z challenge, and today’s guest is everyone’s favorite right angle, the letter L!  There will be a lot to like and love about my collection of lunacy… and while you prepare yourself for that, here’s the rules of this challenge that you can probably recite in your sleep by this point.

  • Only photos I took myself will be used.
  • All photos used will have been taken without any thought given to this challenge.

Alrighty then!  It’s time to watch everything go to L….

You won’t see many non-digital photos in this challenge since I have so few of them.  But this awesome LIGHTNING picture I took in 1995 will certainly be one of them!  I may not have ever had the good fortune to hit the lottery, but I got a picture of a fucking bolt of lightning on a film camera!

My LAPTOP computer that has served me reasonably well for the past eight years.  That drawing is also 8 years old and is still the desktop image on both of my machines…

Spilly LICKING his brother Ody on the nose.  The personalities each cat had during the magical 18 months they were together is perfectly captured in this one image…

A cable LINEMAN on a LADDER.  Probably the reason he seems less than enthused is because I took this photo on LABOR DAY last year.

The dog’s name is LIZBIT, and this is one of my favorite action shots I’ve taken.

Wilson the park squirrel playing in the LEAVES!  He’s just so damned adorable…

What do you get when a monkey and a raccoon hit it off?  LEMURS!

Ody wants to be left alone napping in my LAUNDRY BASKET.

Big ass LEBRON JAMES banner that hung in Cleveland during his first run with the Cavaliers (I took it in 2009).  Oops, guess this isn’t good timing after that LOSS last night…

LITTERING squirrels.  How can you ticket something so cute?

Darth Vader with a pussy pink LIGHTSABER.  Yeah, I’ve already used this photo once before in this challenge.  Sue me…

LAKE HURON.  That’s Canada in the distance there…. the closest I’ve come to foreign travel.

And since you made it through this post full of legally likable photos, you are allowed to pet this kitten sitting next to a LAWNMOWER.  It’s one of the adorable Mecca Kitties I posted about a long time ago…

Come back next Tuesday for a little M&M magic…

  1. My guess is that lineman was bummed he missed catching a naughty squirrel who chewed up someone’s cable.

    • Reminds me of the cable guy who was checking on a signal problem I had, and brought in some wires he took down from outside that had been chewed by squirrels. He was telling me this in my computer room which was jam packed with squirrel paraphernalia!

      • Given my recent experience with squirrels, it’s hard to express sympathy. 😇

      • The squirrels proved innocent in this case, though, since the previous owner had the incoming cable split into four rooms…. two of which I was not using cable in. Since the splitter was removed, my signal has been loud and clear, squirrels or no squirrels! 😀

  2. I like your photos… and I ponder what happens when Lizbit meets the Ladder of Lineman…. maybe a Laccident…;o)

  3. ody N Biskit….we had a time of it tryin ta find wilson !!! grate camo dood !!! 🙂 ♥♥

I love the background on your laptop- Evil’s Angels. Sounds like a classic. 😄

  5. I once spent the better part of a day trying to get a lightning bolt. Everyone got them. There were so many. But not me. Nope. Nada. Nothing. There are just things I NEVER get. Doesn’t matter how good the equipment. It’s just NOT my thing. But YOU got one on a freaking FILM camera.

    • And a couple years before that, I pointed a camcorder to a stormy sky for almost half an hour and never got a single bolt. It just goes to show you. I think my overall fear of lightning may have helped me get that shot since my reflexes acted really super quick when that bolt hit…

I can’t believe I Googled “ellophobia” before realising what you’d done there.
    I love “Evil’s Angels”!

  7. Hey – that photo of the lake – is that someone walking on water???? If so, you can reuse this photo next week for M……….miracle!

Lovely and likable list of L-ness. That dog action shot is great.

Never tired of making fun of Cleveland, are you? LOL

I love the one of Spilly licking Ody. So cute! Kittens are so adorable. But then they can turn into assholes like Trouble or disgusting zombie cats that create godawful messes every day. Every. Single. Day. By the time Frosty dies, I may be so burned out on cleaning up cat messes that I will never be brave enough to roll the dice and take another chance on a cat.

Oh, who am I kidding? If I saw two kittens as cute as Ody and Spilly, I would bring them home in a heartbeat!

    • The connection they shared as blood brothers was quite unique and entertaining! I’ve got so many pictures of them wrestling, which they did every day. Biskit would rather be chased than rassled with…

  11. Lizbit and Licking. Cute cute cute cute. Nice post. Loved this one a Lot.
