Since today is my birthday (please, hold your applause!), I figured I’d share what I believe is the only comic I’ve done that is centered around that oh so egotistical of holidays that I think we sometimes take just a bit too seriously. While this comic is only two years old, it is definitely one of mine and my readers’ favorites… and maybe one of my favorite Buster appearances where the poor guy doesn’t get mutilated in some way. This was Comic #159
I am still tinkering off and on with the comic that was originally supposed to be posted two weeks ago, and that should be up later today or tomorrow. I have four regularly scheduled days off next week, and I am gonna be extremely disappointed in myself if I don’t get the comic backlog caught up by next Friday. In that regard, I really need to get me one of those thingies that lets you draw straight onto your computer…. it might change the look of my comics, but I think I’d cut the time it takes to make them in half!

My cards were all handmade by the people who work in Hallmark’s sweatshop, wherever that is located. That counts, doesn’t it?
I’m going to save this and post it (reblog is) on the July 19th which would have been my brother’s 74th birthday. We used to laugh a lot about the $10 checks we got from our aging aunts and uncles. They were really poor, we didn’t deposit them, but the thought that they could find a way to include something for us was very touching. Funny how much this reminded me of Matthew. Thanks.
My Mom continues to put money in my card even though I’ve told her for years to stop it since I’m in better financial shape than she is. Us kids have just about broken her down on not going into bankruptcy each Christmas buying us things we don’t even want, so there may be hope that the birthday money will stop one day…

And Buster doesn’t even get such luck on his birthday. I just looked up the only time his “birthday” coincided with comic day, and it turned out to be one of the first times I ever offed him! Though he went peacefully in that comic at least…

I know what you mean by being disappointed by nothing in a card…my sisters kid was ticked I had only put in a $5.00 one yr. he threw it down and stomped off, what a little dick head!
