Zip a dee doo dah! Zip a dee ay! After exactly half a year’s worth of Tuesday posts, we have finally arrived at the very last entry in my Photography A to Z challenge! This series began almost immediately after I put Shelf Critter Theatre on hiatus in March, but the gang didn’t entirely get the summer off. I managed to use all of my major players (and a few spare parts) exactly once to make fitting title cards for my tribute to each letter. You can check them all out of the new page dedicated to this series right heeyah!
And before we move on to yet another difficult letter, let’s go over the two rules I have adhered to for the length of this challenge. Say them with me now….
- Only photos I took myself will be used.
- All photos used will have been taken without any thought given to this challenge.
And now ladies and gentlemen…. the final letter, Z!!!
Mt. ZION Family Fellowship Center…. basically an annex to Mt. Zion (whatever denomination it is) Church at the end of the walking trail near my house. This is also my polling place during elections, and the only place in America where a fictional possum and skunk have ever received votes in a presidential race.
The big concrete sign in front of the St. Louis ZOO, a local landmark.
Whew! Thank goodness I thought to take a picture of the ZEBRAS when I was at the zoo last year!
ZIPPING down the highway in the bed of a pickup truck! Man, I miss those days. Lucky dog…
All ZEROES on the board since the game is just starting. And yes, you should have the “Sunglasses at Night” keyboard riff going through your head right now…
Cincinnati Reds shortstop ZACK COZART up to bat. I’m really reaching for Z’s in this post as you can tell….
Pittsburgh is apparently the home of ZOMBIE Fest. Who knew?
This is obviously a No Fun ZONE.
Man, this was seriously the hardest letter of the bunch! But hey, we made it through through this together!!! So now that it’s all over, you may now feel free to do like Ody here and take a big ol’ snooze. ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ….
I hope you enjoyed my photographic tribute to the alphabet! So…….. now what, you ask? Well, you probably noticed that while the A to Z was going on, I pretty much let my weekly Picture Day Wednesday posts slide, because there was no use digging through my photo album twice in one week. So that series will be coming back full time starting next week, however I’m going to move the feature to Tuesdays now. That’s because I have a new music Top 30 countdown series in the works that I’m planning on introducing to you tomorrow and starting next week… and since I want to split it up from my Monday DVA posts, I’m going to run the countdown on Wednesdays. Sound like fun?
Now I know my ABC’s! Next time won’t you sing with me….
why they still send people to prison instead to send them to this park? that would be zentense and zastisement ;o)
They could also put bad people in the zoo and let the animals out to laugh at them…
…not only those who laugh… also those who are hungry ;O))))
Wow, I had to study that one picture to figure out the sunglasses at night reference. I forgot all about Corey Hart. Was he a one hit wonder?
Corey was the even rarer of pop music breeds, the two hit wonder! Along with Sunglasses at Night, he also did Never Surrender. I’m sure he had other songs, but they weren’t big hits and I don’t remember any of them….
Wikipedia says he was big in Canada.
Well, he was one of their own. Canada only disowns their Biebers…
Zwell Done !! It was zeriously fun doin’ the alphabet with you here……looking forward to zee other things you have in mine for zee blog. Congratzulations on a job well done…….
Pam and zee Ted guy
Zank zou! I wish I could have cheated and just replaced the first letter of words with Z like that…. I wouldn’t have had to spent three hours getting eyestrain looking at so many of my old photos then!
Z is really difficult, but you found quite many Zs, (a plural form?) As you already know we have not Finnish words with Z. Zebra is seepra, of course we use a word Zoo, but it is eläintarha in Finnish. Ody looks just like sleeping Kosmo. Is he snoring? We always know were Kosmo is sleeping, because he is snoring like a gown up man.
Sometimes Ody will make a noise like he’s snoring, but I think that comes mainly from him being a really big cat and taking big breaths. He rarely sleeps on top of the chair like in that picture anymore… he has a cubbyhole under the TV he likes to crawl into now, and I can never hear him from in there.
Well done though I’m zurprized there were no zombies in your photo vault. Seriously though, zooooo good and I’m looking forward to the new musical zeries.
While I’m sure there are many zombies creeping around these days, apparently none of them have done so while I’ve had my camera. Or I’ve just forgotten about it and I’ll come across the pictures while looking for something else…
You came up with more Zs than I thought possible! I’m curious about that park – what CAN you do there?
I was really worried for a while because I had the church, and the zoo, and the zebra, and knew I was going to end on Ody snoozing…. and I couldn’t find anything else! Even any good stretches! Q and X were easy peasy compared to stupid Z!
I think that sign is from the park near Lake Huron that I killed some time at while I was in Detroit. It definitely seemed like it was waging a war on fun, which I’m sure is the main reason I took the picture of it in the first place! That’s also the park where the restrooms are only open from Memorial Day to Labor Day, and only for a few hours! (another sign I’ve posted here a few times)
Your creativity flows through you like last week’s chilleh…
And smells about as ripe…
Woo, as I hoped you got pictures of both the zoo and the zebras!
I had to contain myself when you mentioned that last week in order to keep up the suspense. It was not easy, let me tell you….
Interestingly enough, walker(s) and zombies go quite well together. Not typically in baseball, per say, but that’s a pretty strategic pairing. 😛
HA! I didn’t even make that connection (especially since my mind remembered that scoreboard tidbit as being for Garrett Jones, not Neil Walker!) So a praying zombie would be a Neil Walker, right?
Haha! Exactly! 😂
Very good alphabetizing, my friend! I’ve never seen a better set of Zzzzzzs. I am especially delighted to discover that Zombie Fest is part of your local heritage. There’s a cartoon in there, somewhere.
Zombie Fest is a part of Pittsburgh’s and Neil Walker’s heritage. While my local area has plenty of zombies, they are not necessarily very festive ones….
You know – the Alphabet should be named AtoZet
The Alphazet would work out great, and there’d only be one letter to change on the stationery…
Yes, but … alpha is Greek, zet not. The last letter of the Greek alphabet is Omega.
The “bet” in alpha comes from the second Greek letter beta, which does correspond to our second letter B. Zeta is not at the end of the alphabet like our Z, but seems like the it would be the appropriate A-Z term for alphabet. Alphamega sounds too much like an expensive prescription drug…
Nicely done. I admire how you actually know what photos you’ve taken and where they are. Some people, so organized…
I still had to scavenge my album every week trying to find things I had long forgotten about. And I still missed a few things… like two more good pictures of Q things I had taken.
Zest! You have it! 🙂 🍸
AmazZZZZing! Even my hubby enjoyed it! Gave us a good giggle! Wish we had a Zoo with Zebras! Great Work! 🙂
