Lazy Day

It’s just not Saturday without a cute squirrel photo.

I did not have time yesterday to write up and schedule a proper Saturday Squirrel post, nor will I have the time to do so before I end up falling asleep at the computer desk this morning.  So I just dug up a random cute squirrel picture from my archive that I hadn’t used before.  Here’s a somewhat ragged looking sciurine taking in the chilly late winter view from a tree stump on a sunny morning this past March.  Either he forgot his brush, or squirrel fur gets a little disheveled in between seasons…

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. Happy weekend right back atcha. Who know squirrels suffered from ‘bed-hair’ like the rest of us?

He’s on the lookout for something. But what? What, I say?

  3. I’m sure that if he had known he’d be appearing in a photo op he would have taken care to comb his fur or fluff up his rather deflated looking tail.

    That’s a looong tail!

    • Squirrel tails look abnormally long when straightened out because we’re so used to seeing them curled up. They’re generally long enough to make an effective head to toe umbrella when it’s raining…

  5. We shall be watching the frenzy of this year’s WS. I gotta say, it’s GREAT not having a team in it. We can just enjoy the game, though Garry has decided to root for Houston as the Dodgers deserted Brooklyn and he never entirely forgave them. You have as good a weekend as you can, too.

    • I think most non-Dodger fans have to be pulling for Houston. Even though LA hadn’t been to the World Series in 29 years, it still seems like they’re a team that always makes it because they’re almost always in the playoffs. And with a payroll of about a billion dollars (give or take), it’s no surprise…

That is a pretty cute squirrel. I tried to get a picture of a squirrel earlier in the week when I encountered one, but the crazy little guy kept mooning my camera. 😬

    • I’ve got quite a few pictures of squirrel behinds when they decide they want to run away from me. They are not easy subjects to photograph at all given their hyper ADHD and extreme skittishness around people…

He does look a little ragged. Of course I really can’t judge because I get a bad case of banshee hair any time there’s moisture in the air. The elements of nature are hell on certain hair types. Maybe it’s the same with fur!

  8. I like it! I’ve been collecting photos of black squirrels on my walks but haven’t posted them yet. One day I’ll find them in my archives and who knows…?

He had on his winter fur coat! oh no! Call Peta, or is it Green Peace?? I don’t know… just call someone!!
