Temple Of The Squirrel

You better have an offering of nuts ready, or she might just take yours.

Flipping to a random page in my photo archive looking for a Picture Day post idea, I wound up in early 2012 and found the photos I took out of boredom during a lengthy late night power outage.  This image was taken in the wee hours of Groundhog Day morning that year.  I already had the two candles out for light, and I got the idea to put them both on the TV stand and place the squirrel lawn figurine I had in between them.  It’s a creepy looking scene… especially for someone to set up in the middle of a very dark night with nobody else around except a couple of scaredy cats.  Given all the horror movies my Mom liked to watch when I was a kid, I had a long time aversion to the dark that I’ve never fully grown out of…

Oh, and that isn’t just some random squirrel figurine either…

Once upon a time, I could paint. Kind of…

Well, it WAS a random squirrel figurine we sold in the Lawn & Garden department of Mecca in 2011… but I turned it into my red squirrel character MBRS!  I have two more collecting dust that I intended to transform into Evil Squirrel and Angel, but never did get around to doing it.  I had shown both of these pictures off in a very, very, very old post about that dark night that I made long before even my longest time followers had found The Nest.

So, now you’ve seen both the cute and scary side of MBRS!

Which is about all she hasn’t shown off yet…

Very cool! Get on with the other two.

  4. I think it’s pretty nifty, actually. I like him!!

  5. With the tail behind his head he looks a bit like “Count Dracu-squirrel” although he wouldn’t really have LIGHT around would he?! Very interesting though and I agree that you should get to your “sort of painting” thing and get the other two DONE.
