Yeah, we shave and oil up each other’s chests. You got a problem with that?

You know how much I’ve come to dislike blogging “awards” that are about as meaningless as a participation trophy in The Running Man.  They’re not as prevalent as they were back in the days I first started blogging, but they’re still around and they’re still lame.  And while I have nothing against blogging “challenges” (Especially since I run my own challenge every February), there are some that seem to needlessly take on that most appalling trait of the blogging award… and that would be the way they get passed along to unsuspecting victims like the latest venereal disease.  Tag!  You’re it…

No, I am not going to help you spread your latest completely false viral story, even if it kills me and means I hate puppies.

Yesterday must have been my lucky day.  I can’t remember the last time I had my name specifically mentioned as a tagee in any kind of puff puff pass challenge.  Yet I somehow got hit up for two different blogging games at the same time!  How in the fuck did that happen?  However, in the spirit of the season… and the fact that today mercifully marks the end of that Reader killer I lovingly refer to as NaNoJaBloMeGoGo, I’m going to not only take on both of the challenges I was tagged in, but combine them into one super set of answers!  This is going to help make blogging great again…

If only my community blogging activities were as popular as others…

Challenge #1 came from Kerry, who passed along a set of questions that had something to do with anything but books… as if I actually read books in the first place.  I’m not in school anymore, you know.  The second challenge (Which was paradoxically posted before the first challenge, but Readers work backwards, you know) came from Phenny who instantly thought of me for a muzak challenge where you just choose ten songs you really like.  I’ll just add an appropriate song for each of the nine questions in Kerry’s challenge, while the tenth song….. well, new math says nine and ten are close enough to be basically the same number.  So it’s all good…

Our next rocket scientist! Let’s send him to North Korea.

Let’s begin, shall we?

Q1 What is your favorite cartoon?

While I love the classics that got their start as movie shorts, and the cartoons of my childhood… nothing can touch the toons of the 90’s for LOL quality.  It may be one of the few salvageable things about that decade.  Yes, I was a big Beavis & Butthead fan… but I’m going with staple of the old Fox Kids cartoon lineup Animaniacs for my answer here.  The Warner kids, Pinky and the Brain, Goodfeathers, and Slappy Squirrel shorts were classics.  This was one of the first animated series that attempted to appeal to both kids and adults… with the occasional crude joke that would go right over the little ones’ heads.

Fingerprints? I don’t think so…

This show had a lot of clever novelty songs, but the opening theme itself is classic enough…

Q2 What is your favorite song right now?

Who knows?  I have so many songs I like, I couldn’t possibly pick a favorite at any time.  Usually, my Monday earworms get stuck in my head for days before and days after I make those posts… but you’ve already heard them (while shaking your heads).  Here’s one that was a big favorite of mine when I was a kid and my world was basically limited to 80’s music, and which I still like today…

Q3 What could you do for hours that isn’t reading?

Create X rated critter displays?

I spend much of my non-working, non-sleeping life in front of my computer lurking around on the internet.  I really know how to live it up, don’t I?

Q4 What is something you love to do that your followers would be surprised about?

I don’t think I keep many secrets from my readers.  If it’s me and it’s strange, you probably already know about it.  I guess I don’t talk much about the fact that I bowl.  I bowled in leagues from Age 9 to 21 before I started working nights… and took it up again at the request of my aunt seven years ago and joined her Friday night mixed league.  My average sits in the low 170’s, which isn’t bad for someone who can’t make a bowling ball hook.  We’re only a couple of points out of first place right now, and here’s the name of one of the teams we’re trying to catch…

Q5 What is your favorite thing to learn about?

Whatever random thing happens to cross my mind at the time, I guess.  I’ve come to a dead stop writing posts before because I hit upon something interesting and wound up sidetracked for hours learning more about it.

Distracted? Me? I’d never get…. wow, what a pretty unicorn!

I guess one of the areas I’m most fascinated with is strange and obscure baseball statistics.  There are so many unique and quirky stats littered throughout our national pastime’s hundreds of thousands of games played, and I love discovering new ones…

Q6 What is something unusual that you know how to do?

Does this count?

Q7 Name something you have made in the last year?

Money? OK, I didn’t make it this way, though….

In terms of physical art, I don’t think I’ve done a thing in the past year.  The last thing I tried to create was a companion rock to send back to Bacon’s family with Bashful last October, and it was one of my typical crafting disasters.  I’ve certainly made a lot of fucked up Shelf Critter plays over that time, though… and while it’s obviously not everyone’s cup of tea due to the lack of likes and comments, I know it makes a few people laugh, and laughter is what I enjoy making most of all…

Q8 What is your most recent personal project?

Ummmmm……. my Top 30 Iconic Songs I Can’t Stand countdown?  You all don’t really think I have much of a life outside of the internet, do you?

Here’s an iconic song that won’t be in the countdown because I secretly love it….

Phenny said I couldn’t use Miley, but didn’t say anything about her Pa!

Q9 Tell us something that’s your favorite (food?), that is oddly specific?

Burnt Cheez Its!  I used to put them in the oven and cook them until they turned black brown, but I also used to think my taste in cheese crackers was strange.  Then Cheez It came out with “Extra Toasty” Cheez Its a couple years ago, with the surprising admission that it was their most requested flavor.  I kinda hate it when I find out I’m not as weird as I thought I was…

I think I should get royalties for these…

Here’s an oddly specific food that I don’t love, but enjoy singing about….

That does it for all the questions… and like usual, nobody is going to get tagged because that’s not how I roll.  Do whatcha like.  Oh, I do owe you one more piece of muzak, so let’s dedicate the tenth song to the title of this post!  Here’s a shovel, can you dig it?

  1. Oh I loved beavis&butthead too… I even had a t-shirt, a mug and a PJ ;o) and I love the songs you picked… that’s real muzak!!! my grampy’s favorite song was Achy Breaky Heart and I remember how he stomped on the floor of the car to the rhythm … till he accidentally stomped on the break and someone with probably lame muzak on board tailgated us… ;O))) thanks for sharing some real gems !!!!

  2. Fish heads fish heads roly poly fish heads. Eat them up. Yum! God, I haven’t thought of that one in ages! I used to love that video. I’ll be singing that all day now. I’ll have to play it for my sons!

You managed to include “girl with money” and new recurring favourite “Snuggle does Mitzi” but what happened to “dog in fridge”?

    • I think I used the dog in the dishwasher not too long ago for something, but I can’t think of what. After using it in almost every one of my Millionaire posts, it seems to have run out of usefulness. It’s hard to believe there are so many uses for a unicorn and teddy bear getting it on. The guy eating the cereal out of the toilet made too many people sick… and I loved finding places to work that one in. I will be bringing back another old favorite, the college boys around the beer keg, for a post in a couple weeks…

Nicely mooshed award answers. I think that Burnt Cheez Its! sound dreadful, but I am in awe of your ability to make them. Now I think I’ll wander off to find some Pinky and the Brain videos. I haven’t watched them in years. Always did love me some Pinky shenanigans.

I am legit relieved that Achy Breaky isn’t in your Songs I Hate countdown, because for a second there I thought I was going to have to go all medieval on your bahonka….

Meanwhile, I’m still snickering over ‘fingerprints’. Obviously, I never watched the Animaniacs….

    • fanrosa says:

I am also ashamed (but not ashamed enough to not say it) that I instantly identified Marty Janetty and Shawn Michaels. RnR Express was my sister’s fave NWA tag team BITD. Of course, I went more for the heels….

    • I’m sure I’ll give you a few chances to kick my bahonka with the entire Top 20 still to go… but I’m glad you like Billy Ray too. Billys know how to rock…

I was trying to think of the name of that duo, because even though I hadn’t seen them in 30 years, I knew I knew who that was… but there was no name with the photo. I watched a lot of rasslin’ in the 80’s, but apparently didn’t pay much attention to it…

Really, Evil? The toys in compromising positions and a south east Asian sex worker. Now you are just copying me. 😁 I am not a great fan of your music but I will line dance to Achy Breaky heart with some Jagermeister. But I love Whoomp (Bad Ass) – listen to the lyrics. Now that I know you more, I am thinking diagnosis…LOL!

    • That may just be an American stripper with a tan… it’s one of my archived photos I find many occasions to drag out! I assure you that I am a perfectly normal person who just happens to do a lot of really crazy things…

  7. Creative genius, always! 😉

I personally love shelf critter theater, it cracks me up.

  9. JackieP says:

I’m with Mer on the shelf critter theater. 😉 Great minds and sick humor binds us…. LOL

  10. Hahaha! I knew there was a valid reason I liked you and your way of thinking! And for the record…how could anyone go wrong with Styx?! 👊🏼 Fist bump, dude.

  11. The very moment I saw this was about those great invites to challenges I was hooked. I have a statement right up front to not send me any, yet they do, they do. Okay, sometimes I don’t mind because it’s something I don’t mind doing — like most things photographic. But other times, it’s one of those ones where you have to come up with things no one knows about you which is essentially impossible because I’ve barely left out any DETAILS. I’d just have to make shit up. Well, that’s a thought. I never seriously considered it, but if people can still believe in a flat earth, why can’t i make up a bunch of stupid stuff and tell everyone it’s true?

Thank you. Now I feel inspired.

    • I have to be completely strapped for something to write about and/or think a lot of the blogger who thought I’d be perfect for the challenge in the first place. I’m picky enough that it usually works out. I still love the three posts I wrote last year when you picked me for that quote challenge….

Squeals with piggy laughter – I loved this posting. Just when we thought we knew all about you… HA! XOXO – Bacon
