I love tails. They’re one of the neatest parts of any animal, and it’s almost a shame evolution decided somewhere along the line that we humans didn’t need the extra appendage.
Squirrels are quite famous for their big, bushy tails. Even though the squirrel tail is basically the exact same as what you’d find on their rat cousins, you’d never realize that since it’s completely buried underneath all of that thick, bristly fur. The tail is a big part of what helps to make the squirrel stand out for its cuteness, and given how flexible the squirrel tail is, they can often use their caboose to amuse us as well.
You can’t really see the squirrel in this photo, but you can certainly spot that tail… which is corkscrewed into a twisty, furry flag that proudly waves from high above for all of Sciurine Nation. I’d like to thank this week’s Saturday Squirrel for proving that the coin doesn’t always need to come up heads in order to get a super cute squirrel photo for your weekly amusement…
Have a great weekend everyone!
