I am always happy to feature the squirrels who bring joy to the lives of my readers on my popular weekend sciurine series, and this set of three photos comes courtesy of longtime Nest follower Ally Bean, who shot these wonderful pictures of a squirrel after a recent snowstorm. This squirrel has some kind of unknown treat in its mouth that I can’t even begin to identify. It could just be a stick. Or it could be a dog’s rawhide bone. Or possibly even a burrito. There’s no telling. But one thing’s for sure… whatever it is, this squirrel is happy to have possession of it, and he is NOT going to share with anyone…
Ally has long talked about a squirrel who frolics in her yard who she has dubbed Fuzzy. Now, Fuzzy may actually be more than one squirrel…. they’re not easy to tell apart unless you really pay close attention to your furry neighbors. But like with a lot of the bloggers I crossed paths with in the first few years of running The Nest, it was a Fuzzy themed post that first allowed me to find Ally… and I’ve long gone out of my way to defend the rascal. And I am extremely happy to show off some pictures of Fuzzy, or perhaps one of his descendants on my Saturday Squirrel feature!
Many, many thanks to Ally Bean for not only capturing these wonderful squirrel photos, but allowing me to share them with my fellow sciurine lovers out there! If you have any squirrel photos you’d like to me share with the world, feel free to hit me up by looking for my email address in the Contact Me page!
Have a great weekend everyone!
awww
It’s a very cute squirrel!
I admit they are cute but when they dig up our bulbs in the garden they sure become a pain! Nothing will stop a squirrel, if only I had the determination they did!
I’m not a gardener, so that annoying habit of theirs has never bothered me. They definitely will stop at nothing to get what they want, though!
It’s trippy to see photos I took on someone else’s blog. Fuzzy was a character and I’m convinced that this guy here is one of the grandfuzz. He stopped for me to snap photos of him, just like his old grandad.
The legend will always live on. Do you happen to know what that was in his mouth, though? I’m really curious because I don’t recognize what it is…
I’m not sure what that is either. My guess is that it’s a kind of dog chew that Squirrel-y McTwirly found in one of these yards around here.
That would be funny if it is, because I guessed dog toy in jest! Just one more way for the squirrels to annoy the dogs…
Thank you Ally. What a darling squirrel. Burrrrrrrr those little paws must be cold.
He needs some of those fingerless gloves that were cool in the 80’s… warm, fashionable, and he could still climb trees.
That is an adorable example of “squirrel” indeed…….maybe it’s a human finger?????????? People sometimes fall asleep on a bench in a park and pass out and it snows and…….alright, I’m just kidding…..well – sorta.
Pam
I had a squirrel with a “finger” in its mouth on my blog a while back! It was really just a stick, but it didn’t take much squinting to make you wonder if he was the star of a horror film!
Love Peek-a-Boo Squirrel in his snowy treetop!
Me too! This squirrel is much more of a ham for the camera than most of my squirrels around here…
He’s certainly not giving that up in a hurry!
Anyone who wants it is going to have to risk getting bitten. And then a full regimen of rabies shots…
Ahh, the neighborhood thug…er…I mean janitor…cleaning up after humans.
