Drenched Feline

Or, in layman’s terms, “Wet Pussy.”

It rained just about all day long last Wednesday, but the rain wasn’t going to keep The Nest’s regular dining guest away from her usual morning meal.  Here is poor Gypsy, who might weigh all of eight pounds sopping wet, soaked through the fur as she gobbles up another handout.  No, she doesn’t want to come inside where it’s as dry as Rainy Skunk’s rain gauge… once she sees I still haven’t kicked out those stupid cats she doesn’t like, she hisses and backs away from the door.  There is no pleasing such a high maintenance princess…

Yes Ody, that’s coming out of your rations, lardass.

Take pity on me, Mr. Fat Cat.

She’s ignoring you.

Poor thing! Could you erect a little awning or something over the food bowl? Then she could take shelter there in a rainstorm and the other cats can’t see her!

    • I can’t even build anything out of Legos. Unfortunately, my front porch has no roof… though it wasn’t raining much when I took those pictures. She showed up at my door already soaked…

  2. ody N biskit…..itz total lee kewl that ya let gypsy stay N chow down N total lee kewl ya sharez yur foodz N total lee kewl dad helps her….basic lee…. ewe guyz ROCK !! ☺☺♥♥

    • With the exception of Sunday night/Monday morning, she’d always been within earshot of the door every day for the past couple weeks. She’s more than welcome to be my outside cat, with Sewie already filling that role part time…

  3. oh poor gypsy… that is really a wet-nesday ;O(((

  4. Aww poor kitty. But if she has always been outdoors, she would feel trapped inside. Sweet of you to feed her! 🙂

    • I think she would come in on her own if my own cats weren’t here… she has made it clear she does not like my two, nor the other outside cat who hangs around my house. She would be bored in here. I will make sure she’s always fed as long as she continues to show up…

Man, that is one drenched feline! And I imagine she would enjoy getting towel dried about as much as my poor sensitive Trouble. He got himself caught out in a rain shower last week but, thankfully, he didn’t get anywhere near that wet. He’s neurotic enough without something that traumatic happening to him. We’d never hear the end of it!

    • Gypsy’s not much of a fan of any kind of physical contact. I can pet her for a little bit, but then she starts getting antsy and pissed off if I touch her too much. I think she’d be terrified of a towel…

Great photos of poor Gypsy. I’m laughing at her and feeling sorry for her, too. Being an outdoor cat is no easy ride– even with your generous handouts.

Our Katniss protests very loudly when I cause it to rain. Poor little Gypsy – at least she has had a shower.

  8. Feral cats are hard to make friendly. They’ve never had any warm and cozy intimacy with humans and I think a lot of them have been abused, too. That she comes to eat is something. With time, maybe more will come out of it.

    • I don’t know what her story is or whether she will decide my cats aren’t threats or not, but she definitely knows where to find food when she’s hungry now…

  9. Guess outside cats can be picky. 😊 Who’d have thought?

  10. Gosh she really is SOAKED – too bad she couldn’t find something to stay under to keep from getting drenched but the possibility of a meal drives her to ignore the WET and get some food. It’s a tough life but you sure do make it a lot better by giving her something to eat……a kindness she knows she can count on.

    • There isn’t a roof over my porch, and since my gutters are hopelessly clogged, there can be a waterfall there when it rains hard. It wasn’t raining hard when she came over that morning, she just showed up already soaked…

Oh boy, I never saw a cat so wet! (Notice how I refused to rise to the challenge of your first caption, though I did have a little laugh.)

  12. What about getting a couple of plastic tubs with lids, of two different sizes, so that you can put some padding in between them and then cut a hole for entrance/exit, and stick a blanket inside, so she’s got somewhere dry to hang out? Leave it outside, obviously, but at least then she’ll have a dry and warm shelter.

  13. Ladybuggz says:

poor little kitty, so glad your feeding her. May a 100000000 fleas infest the crotch of whomever deserted her!!
Do you have a garage or something covered where you can make her a bed??

  14. Quirky Girl says:

A wet cat is a happy cat, right? Oh wait, no. Never mind. Cats don’t usually like to get wet. Oops.
