Scaredy Squirrel

I don’t know what he’s looking at, but I don’t wanna see it!

When the cat gets upset or afraid of something (Which is all the time), it arches its back while its fur poofs out… something which, contrary to the Halloween brainwashing you might have received, occurs in all cats, not just black cats.  The squirrel will jabber and bark its fool head off at the first sign of any danger…. but I guess this squirrel wanted to raise a visual flag of warning as well for his friends.  If I were whatever hideous creature is spooking that squirrel right now, I think I’d be more afraid of that terrible tail than the squirrel would be of me!  Who knows what might come out of that angry squirrel’s frizzy bottle brush beacon!  Spikes?  Smoke and lightning?  Maybe he’s just smack us with it?

Don’t let his frightened appearance catch you off guard… it’s this week’s disturbed Saturday Squirrel who you should be fearing….

Have a great weekend everyone!

  1. Awww look at the sun through that little squirrel’s tail. Squirrels are just so darned cute. I scare squirrels off when they dig potted plants on my deck and they get all excited and start barking and thumping their tails. Now I’ve got the Vance Joy song Saturday Sun in my head for a Saturday ear worm. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uKqMNQkjHmI

  2. He certainly looks “on alert” in that photo and that tail of his sure does look like the old ink feather plume of old – perhaps he’s going to write a sonnet on parchment with it?

    Pam and Teddy too

Meep! Up the tree, up the tree!

Awww, that is so cute! Seeing the shadow of the bone in that squirrel’s tail makes me realize how long their tails are in relation to their body. Imagine if cats and dogs had tails that long. They would be getting stepped on and shut in doors all the time!

    • Ody has a very long tail for a cat (His brother Spilly did too), and it makes it all the more challenging for me when he’s sprawled out on the floor somewhere to avoid stepping on it. I don’t know if he could challenge this squirrel in a tail wagging contest, and I sure wouldn’t want Ody to have any more fuzz on his tail than there already is since it’s shedding season!

  5. Nice back lighting to make add to the bottle brush look.

  6. He looks particularly handsome with the back-lighting. You can count the hairs on his tail — if you’ve got nothing better to do, of course. But it is extremely flattering.

Funny how scaredy squirrel’s tail shoots straight up, while scaredy doggies do the whole tail-in-between-the-legs thing… 😛
