You may be aware that squirrels are such a menace to society, that they are even more dangerous than Russian hackers and frogs.  Most animal related power outages in sciurine inhabited parts of the world are caused by kamikaze squirrels just like the one I captured above.  Not that he actually gave his life for the cause of briefly interrupting our power service…. but with one wrong move, he could have.  I caught this little troublemaker running up a telephone pole while on a walk five years ago, and got this shot of him looking straight down at me while up among the tangle of high voltage wires.  Maybe daring me to come up and get him?  No thanks, I’m good just where I am Pachirisu

  1. I think he was probably wondering if you were gonna “tell” on him!

    Pam

  2. oh first the berds listened to my phonecalls with sitting on the lines and now the squirrels too… where is germany with silly (non)privacy laws when we need them?

  3. They are so curious they go everywhere, and here also making problems with electricity, and of course burning themselves. Sad.

  4. draliman says:

Don’t do it, little squirrel! No one wants to see a squirrel briquette.

  5. They are major gnawers of power and other lines around here. If I tree doesn’t get them, a squirrel will.

    • I have never chewed on a power line personally, but I’d imagine that, ignoring the deadly voltage, that it has the same painful sensation as chewing on a wad of aluminum foil…

  6. Trisha says:

I’m so glad my neighborhood has underground lines because, if we had above ground lines, I would probably worry about the squirrels frying themselves as much as I worry about them crossing the road in front of my house and would spend a crazy amount of time trying to coax them down to the ground!

    • I can see you out there with a megaphone trying to get a squirrel off of a wire like someone trying to talk a jumper off the roof…

      • Trisha says:

I can see that too. The squirrels would probably figure out that parading around on the power lines is the quickest way to get me out of the house with the bag of peanuts and they would do it all the time!

  7. It’s truly amazing more of them don’t electrocute their furry little selves. ⚡️
