From one peekaboo photo to another, this pooch who is trying her best to hide from my all-seeing camera is Annie… the greyhound of one of my internet friends from Oklahoma. This trip was the first and only time I got to see Annie since she sadly passed away the following summer… but her story as an abandoned pup rescued from the evils of dog racing is inspiring, and Annie was fortunate to make it around long enough for me to get this extremely cute photo of her. Her owner gave her a personality all her own on the Millionaire message board, and to say Evil Squirrel and subsequently this blog would not exist if not for “Annie’s” influence is hardly an understatement. Annie’s descriptions of the “evil squirrels” in her backyard set off the mental chain reaction that created my cartoon gang…
I love that so many rescue greyhounds after they’ve spent years on racetracks. Sounds like your friend gave Annie a chance to enjoy a “real” life and the bonus was inspiring you to become the Evil Squirrel guy. I love how in this world “one thing leads to another”. It’s a sweet photo……

The butterfly effect, as they call it, has always fascinated me. The many different small elements that come together to make something huge. Annie was a real sweet dog. Now her sister, on the other hand, was a real piece of work… and she’ll be appearing later in the countdown.
I love this photo, and every rescue story is great, Annie got a possibility to live a normal life.

Yes. I wish someone would also “rescue” the people who treat dogs like a piece of meat and put them in a cage of their own…
I agree.
Awwwwwww. What a cute poochie.
And she is a beauty. They have finally closed all the dog racing tracks up here. It was long overdue.
Nothing to see here. Move along…
Cute. Hiding in plain sight. ☺️
Annie looks so sweet! I didn’t realize that it was a dog’s online personality that had called squirrels evil and inspired the name. Awwww, and sweet Annie. I like it even more now!
Awww, beautiful girl. Glad she enjoyed her retirement anyway.
