The very lower limbs on my backyard oak tree are not in the sturdiest of shape. So I was quite surprised to see a couple of squirrels involved in a chase where they were jumping between these rather skimpy twigs and somehow not managing to come crashing down to…. oh dear. I almost spoke too soon. Seriously, how are either of these squirrels not causing those frail limbs to snap off? Well, it does appear these chases are mostly in fun since there does seem to be some look of concern from the trailing squirrel over his buddy’s situation. “You OK, dude?” This is one of three photos I took of this sequence, all of which can be seen in this post…
There’s nothing as fun to watch (almost) as a squirrel acrobatic team on the high wire/tree…..they get away with the most amazing moves!
Pam
Thankfully this was a low wire act…. though I know the branches way up high aren’t all that sturdy either. And I guess it’s better than them shooting themselves out of cannons…
it bet this photo inspired the mc coys to their song ;O)
I’ll yell “Sloopy!” out the window and see if any squirrels answers…
Mike, don’t look down, mate, just hang on, I’m coming…
I just need to get a good picture of your predicament first to post on Instagram…
Yeah, it’s all fun until someone gets hurt and a tree branch snaps.
Yes, the poor tree branch. You’re in big trouble now, kid!
Like wall climbing for squirrels. You may not know it, but that’s THEIR gym.
It isn’t just their gym, it’s their three ring circus! Much better than a plain old playground…
Great photo!
Thank you!
That is so cute the way the other squirrel is watching! But what WERE they thinking having a chase way out there on the skinny end of the branches? Silly squirrels! Awesome job capturing it! I would have accidentally zoomed in too far or turned my camera off or something equally clumsy and stupid and missed the whole thing.
