#120 – Balance Beam

Photo taken: March 17, 2016

Before there was Gypsy, before there was Sewie, there was a little calico who visited my door that I never came up with a name for… so I just kept calling her what always came to my mind when I saw her, Pretty Kitty.  Miss PK has a few entries in this countdown, which isn’t surprising given how photogenic she was… and here is the first picture of her I really like.  Walking on the (useless) drainage tube that connects to my clogged up gutters.  Despite all the ground around her, she chose to walk on the thin, rounded top of the tube instead.  As someone commented the first time I used this photo… what is it about thin platforms like this that attracts not only animals, but the kid in all of us to walk on it?  I don’t know the answer to that, but it’s a lot of fun… as long as it isn’t too far over the ground just in case your balance is a little off…

  1. Oh yes she is a pretty calico……Maybe she thought if she was on top of the tube she might have a good vantage point from ABOVE to observe whatever might come out of the tube? Chipmunk perhaps??

  2. With the precision of an Olympic gymnast, Miss PK sticks the landing. The West German judge gives her a 9.8 for the gold. 🥇

She is a pretty kitty! And cats love balance beams – the funniest is when they fall off with the oh no! expression.

Beautiful cat! I don’t think I’ve ever been a human to a calico. Just beautiful.

Cats are a lot better at not falling off than we are.

  6. We all wanted to be a tightrope walker, but what is the cat’s excuse?
