Welcome to the self-proclaimed World’s Largest McDonald’s in Vinita, Oklahoma! This fast food joint in a highway overpass is one of the must-see destinations for any tourist who has to go through Oklahoma for some reason. You can see by the paint peeling off the chairs that this historic landmark is kept in tip top shape. And that strange bird decoration on the chair gives the dining area a refined level of…… wait a minute! That’s not a decoration! That’s a real bird! Aren’t there health laws about keeping bird droppings away from food for human consumption? The hallowed halls of this culinary tourist trap had birds flying throughout its rafters on this stop I made in 2013. It was closed for renovations when I passed through the following year, and since I haven’t been back down that way, I have no idea if it no longer looks like a dump…. or if the McOriole has been taken off the menu…
lol McOriole!
One of the rejected names for Chicken McNuggets…
That place does look “well-used”……I wonder what a McOriole with the works tastes like? I’m sure my Sammy would like to give it a try.
Pam
With enough tartar sauce, it might not be that bad. Only when it comes to birds, you can’t really trust that it really IS tartar sauce…
We have McDonald’s here too, of course. It is quite often in newspapers, about working hours, salaries, food is not like in pictures, lately they didn’t sell to a gipsy family, so always something, but not birds, but maybe soon.
What about your Gipsy, Snow-white, is she/he still visiting your restaurant?
Gypsy still comes by every day. I found out she is the “pet” of the children two houses down from me. And that’s pet in name only since they don’t take care of her…
So she gets her daily food from you. How the owner thinks she will live without food? .
Some people are just stupid…
I’d eat there! Not.
What’s the worst that could happen? You turn your back and there’s suddenly an extra ingredient on your burger…
My vision is bad right now (due to some sudden allergy attack) because I thought it looked like a pretty fancy McDonalds and I had to look close to see the peeling paint on the chairs after you pointed it out. It’s a good thing I’m not stopping there for a burger right now. I might not notice the little bird feet sticking out of the bun of my McOriole burger!
You never know what they might be serving at an out of town McDonalds. And since you’re obviously allergic to birds, you should definitely stay away from this one in Oklahoma!
Birds used to fly into my high school, too. One day, a pigeon flew into my 8 am (2 hours!) of advanced biology and our teacher suggested we catch it and cut it up. That was the best life of the semester. Maybe of the whole senior year.
LOL! We have occasional issues with birds flying into Mecca… especially in the winter. At one point about 8 years ago, we had a good dozen or so birds flying throughout the rafters of the store for several months before the professionals could chase them out of there. By that point, birdshit was literally everywhere in the store. It was disgusting, and thankfully that was before social media really took off and everyone in the world would have known about our aviary…
While the bird adds a certain level of cuteness to the ambience of this joint…can I just say eew?! Another reason to become a vegetarian.
But…. but maybe it’s a veggie pigeon!
