Squirrels don’t seem like the type to be noisy… and they don’t have a cool onomatopoeia sound that’s associated with their vocalizations. But when agitated or threatened, squirrels can whoop it up with the biggest loudmouths around. Look at this squirrel letting loose with some anger, channeling his inner Howard Dean. Of course, this could all possibly just be an illusion caused by the fact that he has a not-so-easily seen nut in his mouth…. but that potential reality would spoil this picture now, wouldn’t it. Without the look of a squirrel in mid-primal scream, this would just be another ordinary squirrel photo like the many hundreds of which you’ve already seen here before…
sign it with munch and sell it for $119,922,500 ;O)))))
I must confess: I had to look up the word onomatopoeia. I either never knew what it meant or had forgotten.
I love this squirrel pic. It looks like he’s howling!
That’s one of those fun vocabulary words that usually shows up somewhere in a spelling/English school book. I have to look up how to spell it every time I use it, but I’ll never forget what it means. There really needs to be a squirrel onomatopoeia word…
Those open auditions for The Squirrel Factor are getting out of hand.
Simon Cowell seems like the type who would hate squirrels…
Their little barks crack me up. Even the dogs feel badly for that silly noise.
I can always tell when one of the neighborhood cats is lingering around my yard. The squirrel in my front yard tree has a huge hissy fit…
I love this photo – there are a zillion captions you could give it…..but mostly it’s just plain CUTE!

Our squirrels never shut up…😁
It’s a howling squirrel! Owwwooo! 🤣
Growing up, my bedroom was next to a nearly flat roof of a section of house we had added to the original. Every morning throughout spring and all the way into the Autumn, the crows and the squirrels had an early morning battle over who owned that roof. Between the cawing of the crows and the yelling of the squirrels — and yes, they really DO yell — I would find myself at the window screaming GO AWAY AND FIGHT SOMEWHERE ELSE. But it was the roof and the ownership thereof that was the issue, so they never went anywhere.
I think that’s when I started my long trek into permanent insomnia.
