There are two kinds of cats, and I happen to have one of each. Those who utterly hate to be put on their backs, and those who seem to spend half of their lives with their bellies up in the air. Ody fits into this latter group very well. When he isn’t rolling over in front of me demanding that his big milky white tummy get rubbed, he’s probably sacked out somewhere playing possum. This spot on top of the big chair back cushion has long been one of Ody’s favorite places to roost, and as you can see, given how he’s laying there it seems like only a matter of time before the chair swallows him up. That doesn’t look like a particularly comfortable pose to me… but whatever works for you, Ody. Just don’t expect me to take you to a chiropractor, especially since you despise going to the vet…
so cute and funny
Didn’t you know? Cats are liquid.
Here is scientific prove:

I don’t know… I’d swear sometimes my cats take up a gaseous state.
As does mine … Oh the smell of a cat’s rear end … *shudders*
There’s no shifting him, I’m thinking. He’s pretty well embedded.
At about 20 pounds, I’d need a crane to get him out of there…
He he… looks like he is striking quite the pose!
I can’t imagine that was an intentional pose! My neck hurts looking at it…
Most all our cats have liked sleeping on their backs. Then it gets their fur all matted up. Ody looks super comfy! 🙂
Comfy for him. I’d never straighten out my neck again if I slept like that!
Teddy is a back-sleeper but Sammy wasn’t…….they all have their “thing” I think. Some of those back sleepers are TRAPS though – you have to be careful….the tummies are tempting but if the owners of the tummies aren’t in the mood, you can come away with a shredded hand or arm! 🙂

Ody has never been a trap… he looks so pathetic when he rolls over and wants to have his belly rubbed. Biskit won’t even let you roll him over on his back without wanting to call the ASPCA…
I just love seeing a tuxedo cat’s belly. Ody is too adorably cute.
Toffee sometimes lies in such an odd way that I think she is dead. Ody is extra cute and that tummy just needs to be kissed.
I’m at least glad you made this comment on the Ody tummy photo rather than the squirrel bottom photo…
LOL!
He looks so cute and cozy there! My tuxedo cat is of the other variety. I don’t think I’ve ever seen Trubs laying on his back.
I can’t remember if Ody was a back layer before he became a pot belly or not… it could be a fat cat thing.
It does seem like fat cats do it more. Maybe, unlike humans, they are proud of their big bellies!
Aww… he’s beautiful. And giving you the stink eye!
Or maybe dreaming of giving me the stink eye…
That too!
