Those of you who’ve been around my blog a while may remember I dedicated all four of my Saturday Squirrel features during the month of February 2016 to one particular squirrel I came across on a slightly warmer than normal late January day at the park. He didn’t seem to be bothered in the least by me following him around, documenting his quest to collect dead leaves and bring them up to the large nest he was building in a nearby evergreen. I dubbed him Wilson, after the park’s name, and this was just one of the great photos I got of this master craftsman at work… here rushing to get a fresh batch of leaves back to his new home. The running squirrel you see in the header of my blog that I created two years ago is Wilson from this particular picture…
has it something in its mouth or is it just a leave from the background? … I like the slogan, run wilson run is more modern than forest ;O)
He has a whole mouthful of leaves that he’s taking to his nest!
Considering we never got to see Wilson the neighbor on Home Improvement, could this Wilson be that Wilson?
It’s entirely possible… though I’d think if Wilson the Neighbor were a squirrel, ABC would have wanted to get that cute face unobscured in the scenes…
He looks like a shadow of a squirrel. With a shadow.
When even your shadows are casting shadows, you are pretty awesome.
Wilson is a hard worker…….nest prep is tough work but he probably searched for a long time to find the perfect leaf or two for “just the right spot” in his leafy mansion!
Pam
He was very picky in choosing his materials, going from leafpile to leafpile looking for just the right stuff. I’ve never enjoyed watching a squirrel being a squirrel as much as I did Wilson that day…
What fun! I now have collected thousands of acorns to keep my squirrels happy and fat this winter – we have no oak trees here but our friends have tons.
Cool! They will love you for bringing the feast to them!
Faster than a speeding squirrel…more powerful than a…🐿Whoops, got a tad carried away there. Run Forest, run!
Sure looks like Wilson could easily outrun me. But he might not be a much of a match for Jett. That doggie has been known to gallop like a race horse… 😛
