As I’ve mentioned a few times during this countdown already, the Summer of 2012 was exceedingly hot, and that oppressive heat went to a lot of people’s heads. And apparently Ody’s head as well. I came home from lunch one late August afternoon that year to find this going on atop my bed. Ody had his much smaller adopted brother Biskit pinned down as he hovered over him in what for all intents and purposes looked like a mating dance. Ody was so into whatever he was doing, that he didn’t even stop to notice my entrance… even when I came back with the camera. Biskit was completely like, “Why me?” Both cats are neutered males, so I have no idea what was going on here…. but the photos will tell a lot of wild stories! NTTAWWT…
Dominance.
That’s what several people suggested to me, though I thought it was odd the only time I ever saw this was a year and a half after Biskit came into the house. Spilly was the alpha when he was around, though he and Ody were real brothers and they were always fighting with each other anyway…
Well, was Spilly still around when you got Biskit? Even if he was, maybe Ody just did not want to be the last in the hierarchy. And how old was Biskit when you got him? Because – I doubt they do it when the other cat is very young.
Biskit was Spilly’s replacement. He was estimated by the vet’s staff (Who let me adopt him) to be about a year old when I brought him home… so he’d be about 2 and a half in that picture. Ody’s about half a year older than Biskit…
Yep – Ody just reminding Biskit who’s running the show there – obviously Biskit just needs to be reminded from time to time – on your bed!

Poor Biskit. Spilly should have been sending his fellow black cat tips from The Bridge about how to stand up for himself against the big softie. Spilly held court over his brother while he was around…
I guess you can take the equipment… but not the desire!
It must come from deep, deep inside. And nobody can accuse men of only thinking with certain parts of their anatomy now…
Ahem. I didn’t see anything, nothing at all, I’ll just be downstairs…
Our dogs do this too. It’s a dominance thing … or dogs and cats are completely neutral about sex. Or … whatever that is.
Garth likes to do that with the blankets.
Cats are so weird! And poor Biskit. He couldn’t have been happy that you witnessed that, especially since you grabbed the camera instead of saving him!
LOL! Maybe that’s why Biskit isn’t as outgoing with me…
