Bad kitty! Bad! Spilly, you know you’re not supposed to claw up the good furniture! The furniture I got for free because one of my co-workers gave it away to make room in their shed. I love this photo from the minute I took it. Little troublemaker Spilly, far and away the most destructive of the three cats I’ve owned, claws out and ready to attack the comfy chair, only to be busted in the act. Uh oh, I won’t be able to blame this one on my stupid brother! Time to get out my cutest face so I don’t get sent to time out! You wouldn’t want to punish an adorable little black kitty like me now, would you? Dammit, it works every time… that cat got away with everything!
they call it fur-niture because it is made fur fur-kids…
Obviously. But when he ruins it, there won’t be another one!
What a sweet face, thanks for sharing.
He shows absolutely no remorse, yet looks so innocent…
She looks naughty! We have Bean, she’s called ASBO Kitteh (Anti Social Behaviour Order) 😂
LOL, I think Spilly was a dog born into a cat’s body. He was an avid chewer… bottle caps, electrical cords… he even chewed a hole in the water line to my ice maker that’s still poorly taped up nine years later. Neither of my other two cats ever exhibited that kind of behavior, but Spilly was definitely “off”…
It’s funny how certain cats will target certain furniture. I’ve had my share of shredded chairs and couches to prove it!
Thankfully I rarely have company and don’t care how crappy my decor looks, since I still have that chair, and it’s held up very well for being scratched on for over nine years… but still looks like Shredded Wheat in some places.
I love cat attitude in general, but when it’s directed toward furniture destruction it pleases me not.
I tend to frown on that behavior as well… though I had to give Spilly a pass there. Unfortunately, that set the precedent of my nonexistent feline discipline…
Teddy will NOT use any sort of actual cat scratcher “thing”……we do have an old sleep sofa which serves the purpose well though. I just tell myself thank heavens we didn’t buy LEATHER furniture – I’d be suicidal if THAT was shredded!
Pam
Thankfully I don’t have nice things around, so they can scratch until the furniture bleeds. I bought a vertical scratcher back when Spilly and Ody were kittens, and neither of them actually used it for that purpose (Plus when they both grew into adult cats, they were way too tall for it anyway). Ody will use the horizontal scratcher I buy occasionally, but only as a warm up for the furniture. Biskit won’t use it at all, and along with the furniture, he also likes to claw at doorway walls, which is going a little too far for my tastes…
Teddy doesn’t use walls but he does like the oriental carpet….fortunately it’s pretty danged tough!
Guilty, but oh so cute!
Yep, we have very old furniture, and it’s all shredded in places. No reason to get new stuff, as long as we have a cat.
Hope you have a good weekend, and stay warm. I heard you’ve had snow up your way! 🙂
We did have snow, and I posted a snow squirrel today who wasn’t quite ready for winter!
Our last two cats were naughty indeed – we’ve hung blankets over the backs of chairs that Garfield has taken to – so far, so good.
About the only deterrent I tried is some spray we sell that’s supposed to keep cats from scratching where it’s sprayed and…. yeah, right. That didn’t work. I gave up long ago trying to save the furniture… it’s still usable, and that’s all that matters to me.
That is so cute! He doesn’t look a bit sorry either!
No remorse at all! But I gave him parole anyway…
Poor guy, thought you’d gone out to work…
When the squirrel’s away, the cats will play…
