This is about the third or fourth such photo I’ve used in this countdown thus far containing a squirrel in mid leap. Each of them has their own unique quirk to make them stand out that led me to including them in the first place… Greyhound Squirrel, Hover Squirrel, and now…. Supersquirrel! My camera caught this squirrel at the exact perfect timing to freeze him completely horizontal as he hopped at a furious pace down the street. Paste a cape on his back, and he’s look like the next fuzzy superhero who should get their own movie franchise! Oh, and he’s got a nut in his mouth as well. Hopefully not one of those nuts made out of kryptonite from the tree of the evil Lex Luthor…
That’s quite a leap, body-size-wise.
I think the height of the leap is a bit misleading in that picture. They can jump pretty high, but I don’t think the squirrel would be that laid out horizontally if he jumped too far off the ground…
Nice jump. No wonder squirrels have survived for so long. They can get away quickly.
Survival of the quickest to get out of Dodge…
speedy squirrales ;O)
Andale! Andale!
It’s a bird, it’s a plane, no, it’s super squirrel! Great photo!
Why climb trees when you can leap them in a single bound!
I think this photo should replace the Greyhound logo on the buses. heck, none of those dogs were carrying their dinner.
I’m amazed that squirrels can keep their jaws shut around their food while moving like that. I’m pretty sure I’d drop my nuts in that scenario…
Too much information.
All he needs is a cape!
And a cheesy spandex costume!
Love your squirrel photos…they always make me smile! 🙂
Thanks! There are still some really good ones to come!
It’s a bird. It’s a plane. No, it’s a SQUIRREL! They now sit on our porch waiting for us to refill the bird feeder. It drives the dogs mad.
Just wait until they start getting really impatient and tap on your window.
So why’d you photoshop out the cape?
Because a squirrel wearing anything just looks silly!
Very impressive leap (and photo capture!) – this guy is obviously returning to his nest after going to the local McAcorn to pick up dinner. Wants to get home before dinner gets cold………
Pam
If he went through the Drive Thru, it was probably already cold when they gave it to him. Take a tip from someone who knows, and NEVER order a hot fudge sundae in a Dairy Queen drive thru if the line is really backed up… because they will make it as soon as you order it!
They usually are – you’re right!
That is adorable. And so crisp and clear! Moving squirrels are always a blur in my photos.
The camera was still working really well back then. I doubt I’d get that shot today. I have no idea why, but this photo never sticks out when I think of my best… I found it by accident while I was making the countdown. I don’t even recall taking it!
