Geez, Mr. Squirrel! What’s gotten into you? Out in public… in broad daylight… doing…. that? For shame!!! Why would you ever do such a thing?
Oh…… OK. That sounds like a satisfactory explanation for your “cleaning.” Carry on then, Saturday Squirrel…
Have a great weekend, and like this squirrel, do whatever makes you happy!
Perhaps he ran out of toilet paper back in the nest???? It happens……
Pam
Eeeeeeeewwwww!!!! That is about as sanitary as eating Miss D’s “Manager’s Special”…
You mean the chicken with the “special stuffing”????? We’re not allowed to talk about that at the school…….let’s just say the Manager’s Special keeps the local ER in biz!
You’ll take a photo of these poor squirrels engaged in any activity, won’t you…
If it’s in the public eye, it goes on my blog…
Squirrels are cute even when doing that! Look at the front paw wrapped around the back leg. So cute! It helps that, unlike dogs, squirrels don’t lick us after engaging in that kind of grooming.
Wait… you mean you’ve never had a squirrel come up and lick you in the face after getting a treat? It’s so cute when they do that….
Woo-hoo…who’d have guessed I’m a contortionist! 😉
They’ve got everything in their circus act except the bearded lady…
If men could do it, would they bother to become senators or presidents?
Good question. Maybe our inflexibility is the real fatal flaw of mankind…
You know, that little fellow HAS to clean himself with his tongue. He has no option not to. He is just doing what he has learned from his mom. And they have not invented bathrooms in dreys yet .(As an aside I learned a new word today – the German word “Kobel” – nest of a squirrel – is a “drey” in your language – and as English is only my second language, I did not know that – at the wise old age of 50! I learned, too, that there are two kinds of squirrel nests – not talking about YOURS – the other one is a cavity nest. Learned some serious squirrel knowledge, here.)
Most American English speakers probably have no idea what a drey is. I’ve done a couple posts on dreys and got comments on both from people who had never heard that word before. I don’t even think a lot of people are aware that squirrels build nests in trees. I tried to correct a fellow blogger once who posted a photo they took of a huge “bird’s nest” in a winter tree by saying it was actually a squirrel’s nest, and they were having none of it. Squirrels apparently live in caves underground or something…
Some do – aren’t there ground squirrels? They are like marmots …
I recently discovered a photo I took of a squirrel enjoying himself…only he wasn’t as discreet as this one! Of course, some humans aren’t very discreet either! 😉
