What, you’ve never seen a squirrel with its head buried in the ground before? Well, now you have! What do you think about that?
OK, there’s obviously more going on here than meets the eye. Squirrels don’t do that, and I doubt a squirrel would head-plant that deep into the ground even if it fell out of a tree. This shot was a very fortunate opportunity that I was lucky to capture before the squirrel moved and ruined it. You see… the ground that the squirrel head is “buried” in is actually a small hill that was between me and the tree, and the squirrel was in just the right position going down the tree to have just his head obscured by the mound. But it sure looks natural enough to fool the casual eye into thinking that this squirrel has a little ostrich in him!
I bet that squirrel got the same bank statement like me… I will look for the next sand pit now ;O)))
Never put all your nuts in one basket. Or spend them all on shoes…
Aaaargh, deploy parachute… crump!
You’d think skydiving from only 50 feet in the air would be safer than 50,000 feet…
Great shot!
Thanks! One of those times I couldn’t believe what I was seeing and was lucky to catch it before the magic was gone…
That photo makes me laugh every time I see it! And seeing it after the fish heads video makes me imagine a garden with a row of squirrel hind ends sticking out of the ground next to the row of fish heads.
LOL!!!!!!! Best combination of two of my posts ever! What a fucking visual!!!!!!
Figured it was a hill. Probably because we live in hill and dale country. There are big and little hills everywhere. I don’t know what people do when they live on flat land. Must be so boring.
They prepare for the guests they see coming three days earlier than you.
Interestingly enough, it’s the only hill in the entire park (Unless you count the pitcher’s mound on the baseball field). I’m not sure why it exists, but I don’t think it’s natural…
That’s a classic face plant if I ever saw one.

No way he can get up and brush himself off before all his friends can laugh at his misadventure!
I could make quite the nasty innuendo comment for the photo but will refrain. Santa is coming so I best be on good behavior, right? 😇
