#10 – A Happy Squirrel

Photo taken: January 1, 2015

No matter what a person’s opinion may be of squirrels in general, one concession you can usually get out of even the most ardent sciurine hater is the fact that they’re a pretty cute critter.  Of the thousands and thousands of photos I’ve taken that contain a squirrel, I seriously doubt any of them more perfectly and abundantly capture that innate cuteness of the species better than this closeup of a fellow I caught nibbling on a piece of corn in my oak tree.  He’s got his winter fat and is totally rocking that extra fluffy cold weather coat.  Oh, and of course he is smiling!  He should be smiling.  He’s fucking adorable, and he knows it…

  4. Look at that smile! Very cute.🐿

  5. He looks like a recent escapee from my flat feeder. I love the way they just sit there, scooping up the corn and munching until I finally stick my head out of the door and say “Hey, leave some for the other squirrels.” Then they drop over YOUR place.

    • They can never have enough. An All You Can Eat restaurant for squirrels would be put out of business in a matter of days. And if they actually get full, they’ll start hiding the rest of it to keep the others from eating THEIR treasure…

Hey dude, I’m trying to eat my lunch here…

I agree – this one is extra cute! I love how chubby they look with their winter coats and that smile is absolutely heart-melting.
