#4 – The Glow Of Death

Photo taken: April 22, 2011

I have featured a lot of photos showing off the glowing eye effect that happens if you take a flash photo of an animal from just the right angle… but this is the one that will never be topped in my mind.  I did a double, triple and probably quadruple take of the image on my camera’s screen when I saw the result of what was just me shooting off a picture because I happened to have my camera in hand and Ody was staring at me from across the room.  I must have had everything just perfect to get a glow THAT bright from both of his eyes… and the way he’s stiffly perched there on the chair makes him seem like one of those lighted eye creatures you’d find in a haunted house around Halloween.  With eyes like that, nobody will even notice Biskit or Don Henley in the background of this photo…

I don’t care how bright your flash is, that can’t be natural. I imagine he was about to laser Buster before you walked past…

    • About the only logical explanation I have for how unnaturally bright his eyes came out is the fact that the light in that room was off with only the light from the kitchen where I was standing shining in. Other than that, I think Ody could give Robofox a good laser eye battle… especially with Buster in between them!

That’s crazy! It’s weird how his eyes look two different colors too. Trouble’s eyes sometimes look different colors in photos but they’ve never shined that brightly!

    • I’ve noticed that most glowing eyes photos I have show slightly different colors in each eye. Ody has another photo where his right eye has more of a yellowish glow to it than the bright green of the left eye… though in the picture of him fighting through the window, his glowing eyes are reflected and its his left eye that has the yellow tint. I think it’s just a trick based on the angle… like how you’ll see different colors reflected through a prism depending on how you’re looking at it. Ody’s looking at me right now, and his eyes are definitely the same color… though I noticed just how big and bright they are even not lit up! This is also one of the few photos of him where he isn’t squinting…
