I was gifted with a new camera for Christmas in 2013, the same one I still use today even though it’s very much in need of replacing. One of the first shots I ever took with that new camera was this one… which absolutely blew me away when its result popped up on the display screen. I not only captured a squirrel jumping from a decorative rock onto a tree, but froze him in midair with nary a single trace of the usual motion blur that had long plagued my old camera. I still look at this photo in a state of giddy wonder at how the squirrel is just suspended there in thin air! Alas, it was false hope that maybe my new camera would get me more amazing shots like this, a I got precious few blur-free action squirrels afterwards… and certainly no action shots that had the crystal clear focus this one has!
199 photos down, just one more to go! Tune in tomorrow to find out what photo of mine I declared to be the best one I ever took!
That one is darn near PERFECT so it’s going to be interesting seeing what you consider to be your #1 !!
Pam
I don’t think you were following me yet when I first posted what I’ve chosen to be my #1 photo… so I think it will be the first time you see it. What can possibly be more AMAZING than a cat with radioactive eyes, a squirrel hanging upside down in the top of a tree, or a squirrel perfectly frozen in air? Hmmmmmm…….. we’ll find out before the year’s over!
Goodie!
Boing…boing!
There is no sound effect for being frozen in midair, though…
No emoticon either. 🤐
I’m going through this one pixel by pixel until I find the hidden wires suspending him…
Another nonbeliever in the power of levitation. Sheesh…
Now that… is an action shot. Love it!
That’s almost paradoxical since the beauty of the picture if that the action was perfectly frozen still!
When the squirrel came into view on my screen, I laughed out loud and damn near spit the chicken yakisoba I was eating all over the place. That’s hilarious! And amazing! It’s so clear. It looks like the squirrel had to be photo shopped in.
It does look like a Photoshop because the squirrel has that out of place look to it! I remember looking closely at this picture before to see if there are any lighting clues that would prove it isn’t a Photoshop… but the only real case that it isn’t are the fact that (1) where would you get an image of a squirrel in that pose from in the first place, and (2) I couldn’t make a Photoshop that perfect if I tried! But yeah, it definitely has that unnatural sense to it…
